I’m not sure I understand why there was such a shocked reaction over this book from the admin? It’s a fun book: very insightful, irreverent and topical sociologically. And the title is apt for people who go all gasp gasp choke choke at the thought of widows and sex and desire. Reese Witherspoon had chosen the book for her book club. Ridley Scott has bought the rights to the film so admin will soon be reading blind items about casting etc for the film as well. Might want to get over all the shock and shyness.
Yes, surprised that Reese picked this one but actually more surprised at the title of the book. Readers who read it here say it’s much more than that title.
Me too. The title is misleading but it’s actually a good book. RW’s book club has some great recommendations and she commissions/produces a lot of scripts from the books. Namely, Gone Girl and Luckiest Girl Alive etc.
Nice, thanks for the heads up and advice.
I have read the book – it’s a based in London (Shepherds Bush) & Southall book about a young woman who teaches Punjabi widows in the gurudwara writing classes. The women end up writing R rated fantasy stories and get caught by the Southall religious gundas. It’s quite good and funny
