Trailer: BRAHMĀSTRA – Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Amitabh Bachchan, & Nagarjuna

After years and years of waiting, finally the powers of ‘Brahmastra’ have been unleashed on us! Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Dharma Productions, here’s the trailer of one of the most anticipated films of Indian cinema.

Check out the trailer of ‘Brahmastra’:

It’s a modern-day film set in India as it exists today. But the reason it’s called Brahmastra is because the energies, wisdom, powers in the film come from ancient India. That’s all I would say. There are some costumes, may be not the way you’d expect them to be.

Usually in a trailer, the VFX comes later but in ‘Brahmastra’, they showed off the VFX to kickstart the trailer. We actually thought the trailer was already running and had to rewind back only to realize it is the beginning.

Honestly, it’s not our cup of tea. Not because we already had tea but it’s not our kind of film. We might the only people who never watched ‘Avatar’…Ok, maybe us and Govinda. These kinds of films don’t appeal to us. No biggie…there’s a wide audience out there for this genre.

‘Brahmastra’ looks like a supernatural film for kids, like those Marvel films and TV shows with really nice VFX. We are saying Marvel because we just watched the trailer of Ms Marvel’. The VFX in the trailer explains the big budget for the film and it seems most of it went into making the visual effects look as real as possible.

Other than great VFX, we couldn’t catch the story there. There was nothing enticing and we are comparing this with the Telugu hit film ‘Baahubali’ which even with subtitles in the trailer, the story, the dialogues and the scenes stood out. But with this one, where is the fire (no pun intended)?

Ayan made us reshoot for four days after receiving suggestions from SS Rajamouli’s father. This is because he values him so much and we all are very grateful for his contribution to our film. – Ranbir Kapoor

Maybe instead of just having SS Rajamouli’s father look over the scenes of the film, Ayan should have had SS Rajamouli prep Ranbir as to how he can become Shiva. Get that same hunk feel that Prabhas had in ‘Baahubali’. These characters do have similarities…both are momma’s boys 😉 but only one is a hunk!

Ranbir looks too old for this…Alia looks fine but Ranbir looks out of place, just like Abhishek Bachchan looked out of place in ‘Drona’. Speaking of Bachchan Jr., Bachchan Snr. narrates the trailer and he plays a pivotal role in this film. Watching him with Ranbir, we wonder whether he feels anything when acting with actors younger and more established than his son. To be fair, his son was hyped too but he couldn’t live up to that hype. Anyway, this is not about him.

This might sound weird but Aloo and Raymond’s pairing reminds us of Hrithik and that girl who plays his sister pairing in ‘Agneepath’. It doesn’t feel romantic…Maybe in the film it would be different but based on the trailer, he looks like a big bro trying to protect his sis.

It’s not RK’s fault, it’s Alia who looks super young…Oh wait! Now we get why Shahid calls his wife #babywife…even though it’s slightly creepy!

Mouni is the main villain in this film, the Chapter 1 version. She looks like she came straight out of ‘Naagin’ to be in this film. She too has been waiting eagerly for this film to come out. It was supposed to be her big Bollywood break.

Due to the pandemic, lockdown and reshoots, the film’s budget increased which explains why Ranbir and Ayan are going all out to other regional places in India to promote this film. They need a hit and most importantly, they need it to work in other languages as well.

One thing for sure, they are going all out to make sure this film works and clicks with the audience. They still put countless of hours, reshooting and all that just so the film works. It’s not like they got tired after years of shooting and just let go.

Like SRK, Karan too roped in some special appearances from his celebrity friends like SRK, Deepika Padukone, Kajol, Madhuri Dizit, Ranveer Singh, and Varun. Those are rumors on who KJo managed to get to be in the film. When it’s released, we will know if it’s true.

Speaking of years of shooting, what is it with RK’s films? JJ, BV and now this? 6 years in the making, that’s quite something! Aloo was a child and now she’s a married woman!

Also, can they not show a trailer with a kissing scene? Is it compulsory now? It used to be shirtless scenes and now it’s this in almost every trailer of happening stars!

Based on the trailer, this is the kind of you that needs to be seen on the big screen. Seeing it on the small screen won’t do justice to the VFX, that is if you are a big visual effects fan!

Brahmāstra – Part One: Shiva will finally be released on September 9.

We can’t help but wonder what the late Rishi Kapoor would have said? You know he doesn’t mince his words…not even about his son’s films!

      1. as well as RK’s cringe lever comments during promotions about love and marriage.

    1. motherofdragonsisback!

Oh lord. I haven’t commented in soooo long. Ever since the demise of Sushant, I have been disconnected from Bollywood.
      Hi Admin!! Long time.
I have such mixed feelings about BMSTRA. On one hand, I think its great that they are venturing into something different, especially now with the whole world becoming aware (or inclined to believe) the existence of parallel universes, multiverses, unseen worlds and the powers that be.

Timing wise, this could not have been released at a better time BUT I fear that with six years in the making, the original essence of the movie has been diluted by so many other ‘valued opinions’ and good intentions.

Personally, I think the story set in current day India is a big relief, heavens know I am so done with history lessons on the big screen. From the trailer there are supernatural elements that might be HARD TO SWALLOW, I know that as an audience, you are expected to suspend your belief I hope the movie has better seamless transitions than what I saw in the trailer. Plus if the story (and romantic arc) is compelling enough then maybe Ayan is a force to be reckoned with.

Excited to see Big B, as always. Alia seems a right fit, Mary-Jane type supportive gf, willing to sacrifice etc.
I want this to work for Ranbir – lets forget about his age, we watch a lot of Korean movies and shows with guys his age doing similar things. That is not the problem, the problem is the genre superhero stuff might not be Ranbir’s forte but hey prove me wrong.

Yes Admin do your trailer reviews, those are always nice to see.

      1. Yello….Hope you are doing well. It has been a while. People are getting back to life now…It’s about time everything gets back to the new normal.

    2. @Admin, i agree with every word you said. It really looks like a film for kids. They seem to have reshot all the scenes… when amitabh introduces RK as a naujawaan, he really doesnt even look like the RK of 5yrs ago when this film started, it looks like the RK of last yr. Calling him naujawaan and seeing him jump around made him look so comical. At points it seems as if he forgot how to act.

If he is 40 by they time they realse part 1, what are the planning to do for part 2 and 3? Seems like a wrong move. His lack of chemistry with alia has been spoken about so much, no point even discussing that flaw when there is bigger fish to fry with this movie,

    3. the VFX is good, but found it a bit underwhelming. @Admin, you must do your typical trailer review. Keen to know your thoughts.
