KJo brought his Bollywood People meet the Prime Minister of India
The most important thing you learn in marketing (MLM) is to build up your contact list and make connections that will get you somewhere. This is what we have learnt and it seems to us that in Bollywood, the face of that marketing tutorial is this:
Karan really has it! He has the ways to stay relevant and he has figured that it is through connections. Who would have thought that the guy who host Koffee with Karan
and likes to ask people who they take their showers with actually has a direct connect with the Prime Minister of India. Either Kebab Jo is really powerful in Bollywood or the PM is desperate! Elections are coming right?!
Naturally, if KJo gets to bring Bollywood people to a meeting with the PM of India, he will get to choose who he wants there with him. Imagine if Salman was the one with the connect, guess who he would have brought? Kebab Jo brought along his minions on this private flight to the capital, including Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, and Ekta Kapoor. Kareena was not around or she would have been on it too, but Alia was there so it’s fine.
KJo’s gang on this flight included the latest additions (because they helped his Dharma Productions make money) Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh. The other new additions included:
Bhumi Pednekar, Ashwini Iyer, Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal.
Apparently, this is why they all flew out to meet the PM:
The young brigade met Modi to discuss the participation and contribution of these youth icons from the Hindi film industry in nation-building.
This is what Karan Johar wrote to describe this meeting:
Powerful and timely conversations can bring about change and this was one of what we hope will become a regular conversation. Meeting the Honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi today was an incredible opportunity.
As a community, there is a huge interest to contribute to nation building. There is so much that we want to do. And can do and this dialogue was towards how and what ways we can do that. When the youngest country (in demography) joins hands with the largest movie industry in the world, we hope to be a force to reckon with. Together we would love to inspire and ignite positive changes to a transformative India.
The film industry would also like to send a huge thanks for the GST reduction in movie ticket prices that was implemented recently!
Thank you so much for your time, Sir!
And, this is what Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,
or his Twitter assistant wrote:
Had a good meeting with popular film personalities.
So KJo thought he cooked up some nice kebabs when he got this meeting with the PM of India and all Mr. Modi is thinking about is probably how he secured the votes of these actors and their fans.
Yeah Baby (ala Austin Powers Style), I am important!
PM: I need Rohit to direct my next campaign. Confirmed hit!
PM: Aila, Vicky Donor! (wink-wink)
PM: Aila, Vicky Kaushal! (who dat?!)
PM: Finally, I meet someone who plays the common man as perfectly as I do!
PM: Yeh kaun hai, bhai? (Who in the world is this?)
PM: (note to oneself) Just smile, it will be over soon!
PM: Does he know I already choose Vivek Oberoi to play me? Also, is that his chest or a bulletproof board?
If you are wondering what happened to Kebab Jo’s favourite side dishes, Aloo and Sherbet, here’s what happened:
During the flight, it was a bizarre conversation which caused Alia to almost have a meltdown. “Alia controlled herself because she knew there were enough people around. RK apparently said something really insulting about the heroine and one of her habits during their plane ride.” Plus, Ranbir deliberately stuck close to Sidharth Malhotra, who happens to be his current flame’s ex and was also travelling with the entire Bollywood contingent.
It’s nothing new for the Sanju actor. “He is famous for treating his women badly. Although Alia and he will surely sort out their difference, we don’t know how long this will last.”
The only thing we can think about seeing these pictures is that the PM of India does have time. He has time to attend weddings of celebrities and he has had time to allocate for not one but two meetings with cinema people, as in Bollywood. So, why has he not up until now commented anything about the #MeToo movement or the plight of farmers or bring up the safety of women and kids in India? How much time does taking care or even talking about these cases can take?
Well, he has spoken when there was an agenda on hand and something that benefited him or his party. Remember Beti Bachao, anyone? Whose beti was he talking about then? This reminds us of what a political guy once said, “The faces change, but the agenda remind the same”. He was talking in reference to the changing of the head of state. The people think they are voting for a change, but that’s not really what happens.
Maybe the #MeToo movement organisers should call Karan Johar to organise a meeting on their behalf with the PM!
P.S. Can’t wait to see Narendra Modi on Koffee with Karan!
