This movie was touted to be one of the biggest hits of 2020 until Ms. Rona decided to spoil the release by making a special appearance. After months of holding the release and denying that the film will be released on an OTT platform, the makers have announced a new release date in 2021.
Even then, it still depends on how the situation is and since things are still bad in December, it remains to be seen whether big films will really release in early 2021 in theaters. Most big movies have been postponed to next year so expect an avalanche of supposed-blockbusters coming your way. It will be interesting to see who dares to go and watch films in cinemas. You can’t even sit together and ticket prices have been increased. Why not, since a lot of money is being put to ensure the theater-experience is safe for the audience.
These big films have big stars with huge fan followings. It will definitely be interesting to see if they are willing to risk it all just to see their favorite hero’s films. Though this film was expected to make more than 150 crore, the trailer did not generate as much noise as the filmmaker’s other releases did. The response was a bit cold but this filmmaker has a huge fan following himself so getting that 100 crore wouldn’t have been impossible.

Image of Bollywood has been tarnished. Lockdown and unemployment have added fuel to the fire. Movie have to be worth the money and time of audience if filmmakers want to release their movies. Forced paid reviews wouldn’t help anymore. People seem to be more concerned about saving money and watch movies on Ott to save cost. Maybe by mid year or end year of 2021, situation in theatres/ multiplexes improve.
