Blind Item – April – Bollywood

The blind item below comes from Box Office India and it wasn’t hard at all to guess who this blind item is about. Earlier this month, we have reported about this celebrity manager and how she now has to focus on her young chickens to make her company work after her main source of income decided to change his bank aka fire her services. Rumour had it then that a young actor was also looking to drop this celebrity manager as she eats way too much from his salary. So, this brings us to the blind item below and how we think that this situation might just be connected to the blind item below. We think the company did it to retain this young actor since he’s definitely going places in Bollywood. Well, the other actor has nothing to worry about if he lost this film. As long as he keeps his (sugar) daddy happy and entertained, he will keep getting movies and good roles to play. Then, he can just retire at Madame Tussauds! Check out the blind item below from BOI.

    Guess Who?

The bond between a creative talent and his or her manager/representative is one of the most sacred and intimate of bonds in our line of work. This is especially true of stars who have to put in tons of work and preparation in multiple projects and also have to juggle the multiple demands on their time. Under these circumstances, the celebrity has little choice but to blindly trust their managers to work in their best interests when it comes to commercial negotiations, project selection etc.

But, alas, trust can often be abused, as this young star found out. This up-and-coming male lead has already notched up a few hits and, not surprisingly, keeps getting offers. When approached for a project that he quite liked, and after listening to the narration, he told the producers to get in touch with his management agency to work out the nitty-gritty of fees, dates etc.

Imagine this star’s surprise (read shock) when he learnt that another actor had been signed on for the same role! And not just any other actor – an actor who was also represented by the same agency that the star himself had put the producers on to! The horrified star later found out that the agency itself had talked the producers into changing the male lead. Why? Because the replacement actor commands a bigger fee and therefore a higher commission for the agency!

Very understandably, a big showdown ensued where the young star gave the management a piece of his mind and he is now in the process of disentangling himself from the agency’s contract.
Reminds you of the greedy farmer who foolishly killed the hen that lay golden eggs.

    1. Varun lost out on a $50 cr. deal thanks to Karan and Reshma with Star TV. Reshma is probably scrambling to keep him on her roster now that she no longer has Salman. Hence she’s making amends. Besides she would have to share Sid with Karan as a professional but Varun is out of that contract.

Besides. Siddharth has shown zero growth as an actor. Varun has zoomed past him. The only thing wrong with this article is putting them on par with each other.

BTW who knew Karan was taking 10% of every movie his ‘students’ were signing?!!!! No wonder he’s so defensive about his nepotism!

      1. Yes, KJo takes a cut which is why you see the film as being a joint production from Dharma. He would have wanted to produce all of their films, but they don’t have the money.

      2. Wow, really? How long is he gonna take 10% for?

And what is this Star TV deal that Varun lost?
