Here is Shah Rukh Khan trying to be witty with his Filmfare Awards in 1998. I don’t know why he has two awards, probably it’s the critics awards as well as the popular awards. I think the trend of awards rigging started with Shah Rukh himself. Filmfare wanted him to keep coming so they gave him the awards. It doesn’t hurt that he was very very popular during that time as well, but there were other well-deserving actors, who could have gotten the awards instead. He is a Filmfare favourite for sure. Now these days, if your films flop, there is no chance you will get an award, whether it’s from Filmfare or other award shows. They all favour huge hits first and then they look at the performance.
