The WiebeTech ToughTech is a portable hard drive that supports dual FireWire 800 (400 compatible) transfer speeds, as well as interfaces such as USB and eSATA. It supports data interface speeds of up to 800 Mbps (FireWire 800), up to 480 Mbps (USB) and up to 3.0 Gbps (eSATA). The unit houses SATA1 and SATA2 hard disk drives, and sports LED power indicator, access indicator; Windows 2K, XP, Server 2003, Vista/Mac OS X /Linux operating system compatibility.

The device is in optimum operation in 50 – 85° Fahrenheit (10 – 30° Celsius) temperature at 5% to 95%, noncondensing humidity. Designed in an aluminum alloy case 6 lbs (with drives)/ 9″ x 5.25″ x 1.5″ (229mm x 133mm x 38mm) form factor, the WiebeTech ToughTech is covered by a one year limited warranty. There are two options that users can choose from on the WiebeTech ToughTech: the ToughTech XE (for Dual FireWire 400 interface), and ToughTech FS with triple interface (two FireWire 400 ports). The WiebeTech ToughTech comes with an AC adapter (+12V/3A 100-240 VAC), AC cabling, information CD and Limited Warranty Statement.

The ToughTech is a hard drive designed in aluminum enclosure that protects data while providing portability. Its fanless design also affords users quiet operation. Available in options of the WiebeTech ToughTech XE with one Dual FireWire 400 interface and WiebeTech ToughTech FS with triple interface (two dual FireWire 400 ports), the units supports connection over Oxford 924 bridge and provides storage space for backups, music, games, Internet downloads, photography, audio/video editing or server storage. It also features the FlexMount Anti-Shock Protection which is a shock absorber that mounts between the drive and the enclosure and protects the data against bumps and vibrations; FireWire data transfer speeds up to 800Mbps (FireWire 800) or 400Mbps (FireWire 400) and USB data transfer speed of up to 480Mbps; an aluminum design which draw heat away from the hard drive and help keep the drive cool; and plug and play compatibility. Other features on the WiebeTech ToughTech include daisy-chaining function that allows users to attach additional FireWire devices; and a Power Switch that allows powering enclosure down before disconnecting and help prevent port blowouts.
