    Buffalo Inc is one of the current 14 subsidiaries of MELCO (the name stands for Maki Engineering Laboratory Company) Holdings Inc, a family business that was founded by Makoto Maki. Buffalo Inc first made its name in the computer peripheral market in 1981 when it produced an EEPROM writer. It was initially founded as an audio equipment manufacturer and its name was derived from the name for the American Bison and one of the company’s first products, which was a printer buffer.
