Bollywood’s top talent manager Anirban Blah is accused of sexual harassment

SHOCKING UPDATE:  Anirban Blah tries to commit suicide!

Kwan founder Anirban Blah rescued from alleged suicide attempt

Anirban Blah, the co-founder of Kwan Entertainment, one of the biggest celebrity management agencies in India, was rescued in the wee hours of Friday by the Vashi Traffic police after they found him on Vashi old bridge, where he allegedly attempted to take his life. The incident happened at around 12.30 am when traffic police got a tip-off about the alleged suicide.

Mr. Blah is one of the co-founders of celebrity management firm KWAN Entertainment but was recently asked to step down from his role in the firm after some women accused him of sexual harassment.

“We had information about an individual coming towards Vashi bridge to commit suicide. We couldn’t take chance and we laid a trap there in dark,” senior police inspector from Vashi traffic said.

Mr Blah was seen climbing on the barricades of the bridge when the police caught hold of him and made him get down.

“He was crying. He seemed very frustrated and depressed. We took him to the police chowky, offered him water and asked his problem to which he said that he was frustrated with the #Metoo allegations on him. He was depressed due to the defamation he and his family faced. He along with nine other partners had founded KWAN and after four girls alleged him of harrasment in #Metoo campaign, he was asked to resign,” Mr Gaikwad said.

His wife was informed by traffic police and he was handed over to the Vashi Police thereafter.

“The traffic police handed him to us but we haven’t charged him as he has not done any (suicidal) act. He told us that he had come for a walk at the bridge. After his family reached, we handed him over to them,” senior police inspector Anil Deshmukh from Vashi police station said.

As many as four women have come forward to speak out about the sexual harassment they faced at the hands of the shameless Anirban Blah. Anirban was considered one of the top talent manager of Bollywood as his company, Kwan Entertainment, has been managing top celebrities, like Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tiger Shroff, Sonam Kapoor, Mahesh Babu, Rana Dagubatti, Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

In a blind item shared earlier this week, it was reported that everyone knew about his dirty escapades but as it is in Bollywood, no one cares and this is even true if the predator is making money.

Bollywood Blind Item 2 – October 2018

Since the accusations have been dropping out about other personalities, Kwan Entertainment have already taken the steps by making Anirban more behind the scenes instead of making him the face of this company. They knew things were serious and if he stays at the top, he will bring all of them down. Strangely, the company has a Prevention of Sexual Harassment committee in place.

His victims, all of whom are actresses, have spoken out.

A model, who hails from a family of theatre actors and was hoping to foray into Bollywood, approached Blah last year with her portfolio. While the talent manager expressed interest in handling her film career, things spiralled downwards when he arranged a meeting with her at his Khar house. She recalls, “When I went there, I realised his wife and kids were out of town. We sat down to discuss my background and a possible career in films, when he said, ‘Waise toh tum hot ho. Why don’t you strip down and show me your body? I think you could be considered for sexy parts.’ I brushed aside his remark, saying, ‘You have a B-grade producer’s mentality. Do you consider only a woman stripping sexy? I think a woman in a pair of jeans and top could also be sexy.’

I was in awe of Konkona’s [Sen Sharma] work and wanted to created a similar niche. I made it clear that his views of my career trajectory did not match mine. Towards the end of the meeting, he smugly said, ‘You are way too independent and headstrong to be an actress.’ He pulled me into a sudden hug and tried to kiss me. I immediately turned my face around, so he planted a peck on my cheek. I pushed him away and was out of his flat in a minute. After this incident, he reached out to me a few times but I never responded.” Ask her why she didn’t report Blah to the police and she says, “I would be asked, ‘Why did you go over to his place?’ If the internal sexual harassment committee had to act on it, they would have acted by now. His stories are an open secret.

An aspiring actor recounts bumping into Blah at a party in 2014, where he promised to help her gain a foothold in the industry. “He told me he wanted to introduce me to a top music label boss and producer. At that time, he was scouting for a fresh face for the sequel of a popular franchise. A few days later, he called me over to Taj Lands End for a meeting. When I reached the coffee shop, he gave me the number of his suite, stating that casting is done in bedrooms and not in public spaces. I blocked his number since then and am happy struggling for work every day.” She did not report the sexual misconduct. “I had handled it on my own. What’s the point of making a case out of it?”

An actor, known as much for her delicate beauty as for her acting chops, says she would maintain a safe distance from Blah during her brief stint with Kwan, two years ago. “I never directly dealt with him. After one of my successful films, Blah and I came face-to-face at a meeting. My manager was not a part of it. In the course of our chat, he asked me if I would be willing to be part of an unnatural sex set-up. I asked him to back off in harsh words and left the meeting. In the six months that followed, I stopped getting brand offers. Some of my existing brand endorsement deals were transferred to other actresses whom he was close to. Without much hullabaloo, I ended my association with the agency.”

Another actor, who ended her professional equation with Blah on a bad note, says the talent manager attempts “a systematic breakdown of confidence” of women by sexually harassing them. “Blah is a unique predator. First, you are made to feel inferior about your looks, your body. He told me I have small breasts, and hence, won’t have a long run in the Indian market.” Blah did not respond to our calls or detailed texts seeking his comment on the story.

On his part, Anirban has fled the country. He has made his social media accounts private and has disabled his Facebook account. We know because a few days back we took screenshots of his accounts to post in that blind item. It seems he didn’t expect the allegations to come out so quickly. Well, yes, why not? Since he has been successfully acting like a shameless creep for a long time now. He has also been fired from Deepika’s Live Love Laugh Foundation. Both Kwan and LLLF have issued a statement regarding his situation:

The irony is, all of these men claimed there is no such thing as the casting couch! Now they are all caught and have been outed.
