Bollywood Blind Item – May 2020 – 29

It seems all film people are worried about are where their films are releasing during this lockdown. You have actors being worried about an OTT release like if it is the worst thing ever!

The blind item below is about this producer and his actress-daughter whose next two releases will be available on online streaming platforms soon. Apparently, the father thinks it’s a bad idea to have his daughter’s films released on a streaming platform.

Well, to be fair, it’s better that way as his daughter won’t feel the pressure of giving a hit or a flop. All she needs to worry about is her acting talent because critics will be sitting down and giving her films a thorough review since there’s ample time for that during the lockdown.

One of the films that is being released reportedly has her acting her best so can’t wait to check it out. Actually, someone said she would get a National Award for that role so let’s see!

The producer father of this young actress was reportedly concerned when he found out his daughter’s next film was being sent straight to streaming. She’s only had one theatrical release so far; her second film was a made-for-streaming project. And now this! He wasn’t sure it was the best thing for her career.

The film’s producer convinced the actress’ father that there was no cause for concern. The film would likely have a much bigger audience on streaming. Also, he assured him that there would be huge promotional splash around the time of the film’s release. Besides, he reassured the producer papa that the other film she’s doing for the banner would definitely open in theatres.

The concerned father was satisfied with the producer’s assurances. The actress herself is very excited about the film. But now there is news coming in that another film she completed before lockdown may also be heading for a streaming release. Unlikely that her father would be pleased.

Since the coronavirus pandemic is spreading in the country the government has decided to follow a nationwide lockdown. Bollywood also stands still and many films which were set to release have put on hold. Janhvi Kapoor’s exciting biopic Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is also in the list of films that were scheduled to hit the screens in March.

Now according to the reports the makers are eying on the digital rerelease of the film. Produced by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios the film is based on the life story of former Indian Air Force fighter pilot Gunjan Saxena.

It has been reported that the film may start streaming on OTT giant Netflix since it is uncertain then the lockdown will be lifted and movie theaters start to work.

    1. The lengths of nepotism staggering. But given the circumstances it looks like the only way for the production houses to continue releasing films to make money. However this might not go well for the future of bollywood.

    2. Calm down with your hate for Karan. Her father is concerned and KJo has a relationship with them beyond films. He doesn’t have that with Sushant and moving Drive to OTT was frankly a good decision as it was horrible. Karan isn’t even doing a film with Ayushmann that is releasing on OTT, so I don’t understand you dragging him here.

I don’t support nepotism but seems to me Karan is making the best decision due to the circumstances. He will lose if he waits for the theaters. It’s his money too.

    3. Sushant and ayushmaan weren’t given this kind of treatment when they raised their concern on getting their movies released on digital platforms. This shows kjo’s obsession with star kids.

Doesn’t this mean that Bollywood families pay money to kjo for getting their kids launched in movie? Does this also mean that kjo must be getting some kind of commission if star kids get brand endorsements? Kjo’s indeed the king of nepotism.

This doesn’t go well for the future of Bollywood movies and dharma production.

      1. Stop making KJo seem so powerful. Dharma is not the only production house and frankly has not had the highest grossing films since 2010. Bahubali2 was a joint production. Even MNIK was shared with Red Chillies. So the future of Bollywood doesn’t depend on Dharma.

        1. i am nobody to make anyone powerful or weak. There are many production houses but how many of them get support and clout from influential people? kjo does have influence and has ruined careers of people he dislikes, spreading negative blinds on outsiders, getting negative movie reviews for people he hates and so on. Examples: katrina, kangana, sushant singh rajput and so on..Does he not get star kids cast by offering to jointly produce movies? As for his latest obsession with telgu film industry, they try to get good hindi distribution rights for their movies sold to kjo, and so they are forced to get alia or anyone from nepo gang to work in their movies.
