Bollywood Blind Item – May 2019 – 7

Things are not doing so good for the once-upon-a-time reigning production houses. First, KebabJo’s production house which can’t pretty much finance any film on its own. Then, came his best friend’s production house who seems to enjoy burning money.

Both of these production houses have been around for ages and were managed by veteran directors. Naturally when they passed away, their responsibilities were transferred to their sons. Somehow somewhere, things just started going down. It mostly has to do with them letting other people handling their business.

Like KebabJo introduced a bunch of directors and approved of stories that he thought the audience will like. The same with the other director, he launched a bunch of directors, producers and actors in the hope to expand the business.

Here’s the thing with both of them, they pretty much have no clue on what works with audience now. That’s why they have approved of high-budget stories that they thought the audience will like.

While the blind item below might apply to both directors/producers, there’s a huge chance it’s about KebabJo’s best friend since his production house takes full financial responsibility in producing their films unlike KebabJo’s company that only is there for name and fame purposes.

Check out the blind item below from Mumbai Mirror. Hopefully, this will inspire them to pay writers well so they can get more good stories instead of going the copy-n-paste way!

    Bollywood Blind Item

THIS leading film producer has apparently had a huge showdown with his creative team recently. He’s aghast how his production house has been doling out flop after flop, and that each of their in-house talents —well-known actors all — haven’t given a worthwhile film from their banner in too long. We hear an ultimatum has been given: Deliver hit films or get another job.

    OSOP Guesses

    Film Producer: Aditya Chopra

    Production House: Yash Raj

In-House Talents: Ranveer, Anushka, Arjun, Parineeti and so on.

    1. Well the ONLY problem with these once upon a time mega production houses is that audience no longer shallows shit they used to produce.

They never gave beyond few 1000s to writers, some even witheld payments, let alone respecting writers. They used to frame a cliche hero rescues heroine story and their golden goose was superstar following. After all audience swallowed anything from their idols.

Today, movies means STORIES, content, wild imagination or relatable and whoever acts in these stories automatically becomes a superstar like Vicky, Rao, Khurana. This us the way to blockbuster and superstar today.

If not on this route and you’re still living in 2008 when item songs and embarassing stories with superstars made money, then you’re on way to bankruptcy.

      Actors can’t be dialog writers.
Directors can’t be story writers. (Bhansali, Hirani all have professional scriptwriters who no one knows much about since credit is taken by directors)

Start respecting the creative core – scriptwriters, dialog writers, musicians, singers, choreos, lighting, art directors, DoP, lightING guy, etc. Give them their due and money.

Lastly stop blaming your own inefficiencies on team, and start finding Salim-Javed and Kader Khan of today – and you will get your next Amitabh Bachchan.

    2. 2016 – FAN WAS A SURESHOT BLOCKBUSTER,THE SECOND HALF ESPECIALLY THE LAST HOUR AND CLIMAX WAS THE WORST. ALL SINCERE EFFORTS GONE WASTE. BEFIKRE ANOTHER EXPERIMENT RESULTING IN COLOSSAL DISASTER. LUCKY SULTAN HELPED IN RECOVERY. 2017 – QAIDI BAND, BANK CHOR, MERI PYARI BINDU, ALL DISASTERS. LUCKY TIGER ZINDA HAIN HELPED IN RECOVERY AGAIN. 2018 – THUGS OF HINDOOSTAN COLOSSAL DISASTER, HICHKI AND SUI DHAAGA HELPED IN RECOVERY. YRF HAS GREAT DIRECTORS IN THEIR TEAM ALI ABBAS ZAFAR, MANEESH SHARMA, KABIR KHAN, SHARAT KATARIYA TO NAME A FEW. HOW LONG CAN A COMPANY DEPEND ON SALMAN KHAN, VARUN DHAWAN, AYUSHMANN KHURANA FOR BOX OFFICE HITS. THEY STILL HAVE THEIR IKKA RANVEER SINGH WITH THEM. IT IS HIGH TIME INTROSPECTION HAS TO BE DONE TO LOOK AT NEW DIMENSIONS AND WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG.

    3. That’s how bosses are! They will blame everyone except themselves for making bad decisions. But will happily take the credit if something does well. Aditya Chopra should hire good writers, directors and editors instead of banking on stars. These are the people who make the film. We are living in an age now here people don’t care for stars anymore.

    4. Do you know Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra are actually first cousins? I think Heero Johar is Yash Chopra’s sister … something like that !!

    5. On a different note, what’s with the random ‘fire’ related incidents in the film industry lately? First, the iconic RK studios just around the time they were planning to sell it, then the Karan Johar production warehouse fire after he gets hit with a huge loss with Kalank, and then the fire that destroyed Chiranjeevi’s film sets down south, AFTER all of the shooting (including Amitabh’s guest appearance) is done. Just sounds so off.

      1. who knows whether these are real fires or self inflicted to get insurance claims in connivance of insurance companies

    6. Aditya need to fire himsel first . He hired Vijay acharya for thugs even after horrible dhoom 3.
It’s he who funded horrible stories and scripts with high budget . Yeah good for his team of actors to find jobs else where . He literally ruined Parineeti ‘s career .

    7. Karma bus hitting these productions houses. Fake people, they lost connections with realities !
