There is nothing worst than a stingy man. Wait, actually there is! There is nothing worst that a man, who has money but refuses to pay you for services rendered. In this case, the deal was about profit sharing and then when the time came to share the money, the producer backed away.

Usually, producers are smart this way. They ask directors to slash/reduce their fees most probably because the film’s budget is small or if the director had a previous flop. Then, they make a deal that when the film becomes a hit, the director will get his due.

In the case of this film, the producer probably didn’t think the film would become such a big hit. When it did, he found it hard to part with the money that came in his lap. Most likely because his previous film was such a huge flop so to see this film become a big hit was probably unbelievable for him.

Still, when it comes to monetary affairs, you should always pay up what you promised. Running away from paying someone their dues doesn’t mean they will forget about it. Though, most people think this way!

THIS well-known producer of some recent hits has picked a dodgy reputation when it comes to paying up. Some creative persons from one of his recent films were promised a share of profits for virtually putting the entire film together.

The contract was signed and the deal sealed, but after the film released and became successful, the team was in for a shock. They chased the producer from pillar to post, and even employed the services of a lawyer. Eventually the producer came around and gave them a smaller amount, and the team just wrote off the rest. Tch.

A source very close to the development says the battle threatens to get very ugly as Vijan has failed to live up to his contract. “As per the contract, Dinesh Vijan was supposed to share 50 per cent of the profits with Raj-DK, if and when the film became profitable. Stree earned more than a Rs 100 crores at the Indian box office. Vijan seems to have got second thoughts over the profit-sharing when he saw the kind of money the film has made,” says the source.
