Bollywood Blind Item – March 2020 – 31

Yesterday, there was breaking news everywhere that announced this big movie studio is no longer producing this big-budget film by an ambitious filmmaker. What these news failed to mention, though, was that the company itself was falling apart hence the halting of all upcoming productions that were supposed to be produced by them.

Someone asked us sometime back if we were sad that this actress’ film didn’t fare well? We said it’s not our money so why should it bother us! Sadly, the people that end up suffering the most when films don’t do well are the ones who work around the clock at their jobs, the ones who need their jobs the most.

This big studio spent a lot of money producing the films that looked promising, which backfired in a big way. Now, according to this blind item, the company is closing down thus leaving its employees stranded on the streets with no job!

Actually, this pandemic is and will be causing many companies to shut down and many people unemployed. It is going to be harsh for many in the coming months as this virus is not going away anytime soon!

Check out the blind item below from Rajeev Masand. By the way, why does KebabJo like to put his hand in fire? That’s something we say when trying to explain that you are testing the times or your luck. The man already has one big flop behind him, a huge budget film in production and he already planned another big budget to be shot soon. What is wrong with him? Is he too ambitious or does he want to show off that he too can produce big films?

    Is It Over Finally?

For some time now there have been whispers that a prominent film studio may be folding up its local production businesses. But given that the studio has had a steady roster of releases over the last few years, those rumours have remained just that: gossip.

However, that eventuality began to loom large last year when the studio was swallowed by a global conglomerate. Plus the fact that their recent Hindi films have failed to make the cut does not bode well for its future.

With the studio head recently stepping down after a long run, the chatter has started again. There’s also the added blow of coronavirus quashing the business of that one new release from the studio that was performing promisingly at the box office.

According to the industry grapevine, the creative head of the studio has begun talks with other outfits. Most insiders expect that the person will land on their feet given their reputation for sniffing out quality material. But there is also the matter of the dozens of employees (many who’ve been around since the start) who could lose their jobs in an already vulnerable market.

    Film Studio: Fox Star

Flops Hindi Films: Panga & Chhapaak

2020 has come like bad news for India’s most prestigious film production companies Fox Star India. The company is facing back to back financial setbacks. First, with Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak and then Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s Panga have both underperformed severely at the box office in addition to it, Coronavirus outbreak plays havoc with the schedules and budget. Now according to the reports, Fox Star India had pulled out of its collaboration with Karan Johar for Takht.

It has also been said that it can be the beginning of the end of Karan Johar’s collaboration with Fox Star. Karan Johar and Fox Star have been working hand in hand for the past 10 years now. However, since the Fox Star’s CEO, Vijay Singh has put in his papers the studio is re-looking its long-standing association with Karan and his Dharma Productions.

And it started with Karan’s ambitious project Takht which is apparently one of the most expensive Dharma-Fox collaboration of all times.

A daily quoted a source as saying, “So, Dharma had not approached Fox for Takht since they are already collaborating with them on Brahmastra which is itself a massive project. So, them backing out is not true! And the project is not being shelved either.”

    1. Panga, Chappak were minute drops as compared to Kalank, soty2. Kjo forcibly sold drive to Netflix. Kjo is one of the major problems.

    2. KJo is not the problem in this case. The production house produced films that didn’t work at the box office despite the high expectations. None of these films are KJo’s. It’s Deepika and Kangana’s films.

This is not good for female actors as production houses may become unwilling to back female centric films as the film’s led by probably the two biggest Bollywood actresses flopped big time

    3. People from Bollywood value only their money and not others’ money, in spite of being filthy rich, they continue to remain morally bankrupt souls. No wonder, kjo has started buttering srk, maybe to get some financial support for takht… Corporates are somewhere at fault, can’t they be stringent in money management with Bollywood people as they are with their staff??? Kjo is super smart, not a good human being though, he would find his way out. Let’s see whether evil Alia butt supports him now or not in time of crisis.
