The blind item is right about whatever this actress has been feeling. To be fair, it does not seem that she has a lot to do in this film. She is looking like if she is part of the supporting cast. There is another actor in it, which we forgot to mention in the trailer post of this film, he seems to have more screen space than she does but you don’t see him anywhere promoting the film. You don’t hear him complaining about it either. How could you? He ain’t got no Kebab Jo or Tikka Jo by his side! By the way, he is such a cutie pie! He was also in ‘Inside Edge’ playing the innocent and nice boy. In this film, he is the total opposite, which quite a transformation.
How come only the lead actor is going everywhere and jumping on people? Where are the other actors? It seems that the producers of this film and the director too realised how the lead actor can pretty much take hold of the promotions and the actress is not needed. But so far the active promotions have been performances on stage, so this actress definitely wouldn’t fit in because she is not singing in this film so what would she do on stage? Get jiggy with it?
It is true that suddenly after the stage performances, the actress was included but then again these were interview sessions, so it would be the producers’ loss if they don’t include her. There might be something amiss about this blind item. Probably, someone saw the actress missing and decided to put it together that something was wrong.
The promotions of a film are not decided before a day of the scheduled promotions, it is decided months before. If ever there was any problem, the actress would have worked it out already. Besides, her mentor is really besties with the director of this film and it is hard to believe that he did not go through the promotion plans with them months before now, especially since he knows the actor is most likely going to grab the headlines more than the actress.
If you think about it, both the lead actor and actress are bankable actors with box office success behind them. The producers of this film would be foolish if they don’t make full use of these two. Then again, we also remember how the same production house doesn’t really do much to promote their films. Katrina Kaif once got upset with their slow promotion tactic, she wanted more and more promotions while they just told her to calm down and let them do things their way. We don’t know if they are the same way now since their production house almost went through a period where everyone thought they would shut down and the producers would part ways.
It’s nice, though, to see that the actor cares enough about this actress’ complaints – if that’s really what happened. He didn’t get mad at her for going behind his back and complaining. At least, that’s what this blind item is saying.
But on the whole, it does seem like it is a made-up situation to explain why the actress has been missing from the promotions so far. If you check today, she has been doing interviews for the film with her co-star. So, there is no issue. Usually, with this production house, they like to do a huge music launch followed by a couple of group interviews. Everything seems to be on schedule.

Promotions for a movie can be a tedious job for the actors. Sometimes, it turns out to be a stressful job, often more than shooting for the movie they have been promoting. But, promotions can also be hurtful if one of the actors gets sidelined despite being an important part of the film. Such instances are often witnessed in the industry, but in rarity, actors speak about it in public.
Recently, a talented young female star who established her mettle in a very short period faced this kind of situation. She is the female lead for an upcoming musical film which stars the current heartthrob of the nation as the male lead. It so happened that the female lead was heard to be miffed with the director and the whole team of the movie for sidelining her during the promotions and giving all attention to the male star. She felt that she is being shown as only a supporting cast and the movie is not riding on her shoulders just as much.
Moreover, the young lady raised these concerns to her mentor, who happens to be a friend of the director as well. The mentor spoke to the director and the male star got a whiff of the whole incident. The male actor made sure that she becomes a part of the grand event that was held recently irrespective of her presence needed or not!
Priyanka did support Kangana. Did anyone notice her announcing a movie on Maa Sheela ma on Ellen’s. Aloo baby was supposed to star in a similar biopic alongside Aamir Khan.
I find Kjo fake and superficial. He also seems the vengeful type. Look at how he treated Kajol, embarrassing her by writing crap about her in his book and then acting like it was nothing. Who publicly embarrass a friend (even ex friend) like that. Kangana called him out and his ego was bruised. Since then he has been trying to take her down but has met his match as Kanagana has no filter and over reacts to everything. Alia is a dimbulb who is not much better than Karan. I find Alia fake. I don’t watch her interviews as she seems vacuous and insipid. Kjo seems to be doing all her thinking for her. Like Karan, she tries to be friends with everyone but none if it is genuine. Look at how she behaved with Katrina, called her BFF and then hooks up with her ex dumbo boyfriend. If she was your friend will you do that? What about the friend code? She then acts like it was nothing. These people do their best acting off screen. As an aside I find Kriti Sanon and Sara intelligent and sweet. Watch Kriti’s Rajeev masand interview. She talks about metoo, feminism and being an outsider. The difference between between being intelligent and educated like Kriti and Sara as opposed to dumb and insular like Alia is clear.
Alia knows what happens when one demand high fees from Kjo. Remember how kjo had a fallout with his so-called sister Bebo when she demanded high fees to do Kal Ho Na Ho. He put his foot down and replaced her with Priety and stopped talking to her for months after the incident. She is going everywhere demeaning other actresses demands for equal pay or high pay just hecause she knows her nepo papa will drop her like a hot potato the minute she increases her fees. All her movies are either produced or co-produced by Dharma or Kjo calls up other directors to get her onboard their movies. Without kjo backing she is nothing so she is doing everything to keep her master happy.
Kjo acts like he has a lot of money with all the flashy branded clothes, expensive holidays and what not but till last year there were rumours that Dharma was having financial problems. That is the reason most of Dharma movies are co-produced.
Yup, Alia was absent from the scene and now she’s in every interview, visibly irritated since she is sidelined even in the interviews. Not only Ranveer is too catchy to be missed, but Alia also is pretty vanila. Her kid next door image was a relief when all heroines had repeated the stale sexy image, but fact is Alia has good projects, great directors, Kebab Jo as godfather, but is essentially a decent actor, not outstanding yet, despite multiple movies with great directors. In addition, she doesnt has the X factor so to say that is present in Ranveer and now Sara. She is trying to change her image to show herself as a grown-up or contemporary of Deepika (though only a few yrs of difference, DP has reached great heights by any actress), Kat, PC in stature, but she still remains a kid next door, not even an adult. She is too mild, almost timid. Probably, the kid image she debuted with, goofy-stupid-non intellectual has stuck with her and her tiny body frame nor work is helping her either. Even when she takes up serious adult roles in Highway or Udta or Raazi, she still seems a school goer who is wronged. This is a good time for her to go for an image makeover and start behaving an adult to command the stature of her contemporaries. She is too cute, and mild, and decent actor, but if she hadnt held fingers of Kebab Jo, she would had remained a one movie wonder like Disha maybe.
Plus, whats with her meagre charging amount, she doesnt know her value. She’s at the peak of her career, will probably be there for 2-3 more years until other catch up, and she will repent for not charging as per her worth. Again, KEbab jo could be using her to brainwash into low income bracket so it is easier for him and other producers to cast saleable actor, cheap! While PC, DP, Kangana, all others are charging their worth and commanding it, she needs a rethink.

honestly if Zoya or anyone on her team is reading this site then you did the right thing by keeping Alia out. Earlier I would click on the promotion videos because Ranveer is entertaining and good with answering questions. However with Alia now in the videos I have stopped watching them. I cannot take her south mumbai bimbette answers and her tots/fabs responses. Also on that note I am glad Kangana is calling Alia out. Its about time. Aishwarya also did the same but in her diplomatic sweet yet underhanded sarcastic way. Although I’m not sure how Bollywood is “ganging up” on Kangana (silence does not equate ganging up surely), this really cracked me up. I wish Kangana would pick and choose her battles. If she reined herself in now and again, the times she truly makes sense would have a bigger impact.

On the contrary I think people want to see Bollywood exposed. For decades everyone hears these stories about casting couch, sexual harassment, heroines being displaced/replaced at the heroes whims but no one talk about it. Raveena tried but Ajay Devgan called her insane. This back story contrasted with the heroines in Yash Raj films in chiffons with pearly smiles and the hello jis or namaste jis. Given the atmosphere and mood in entertainment and country in general with the me too stories coming forward this is the perfect opportunity to talk about this and expose people. I am sure many of the biggies are shitting bricks right now because Kangana is on path to destroy reputations and the thing is they cannot shut her up because she is this wild loaded gun that has been let loose. The public is going to lap it up. She did not spare the great actor/superstar two faced Aamir Khan so she is not going to let anyone off the hook. I just say get the popcorn and enjoy the show.

Master thinker you are right, they did do a negative campaign against her and the film. It was pretty obvious. Journos like Faridoon and spotboye blame Kangana for Kamal Jains illness a day before release and now not a peep from them about his recovery.

Karan is smart that he chose to place his bets on Alia. He can keep casting her in movies without paying her a lot. Infact Varun has said in a couple of interviews how he keeps telling her to increase her fees which is a clear jibe at Karan. Instead he gets her a lot of magazine covers and endorsement deals to keep her happy.
Alia is painfully average. Udta Punjab was probably the only time she was good. Still not great as people made it out to be. But again Karan makes sure she gets noticed during the award season. He made sure to kill competition i.e Parineeti and Shraddha when Alia was a newbie and now he’s trying to slowly but steadily do that with the likes of Taapsee, Anushka and Deepika. Could’nt believe when in an interview for GB promotions, she complained about having too much work whereas DP had to spend a year at home after giving the biggest hit of her career and now Anushka is without any movies struggling to find decent scripts.
Also in an interview with Masand last year, Alia admitted that the director of Kalank was unsure of casting her for the part, so she called him and Karan and said she would be really really upset if she didn’t get the part. I am sure no other female actor has the previlege to do that.
So even if we don’t like, be prepared to see a lot more of Alia on screen in the coming years. Doing my bit and not watching a single Dharma movie in theatres.

As of now she seems brilliant because there is no better commercially successful actress.the actresses are actors,like kalki,Richa,radhika.kangana could have been the new queen of Bollywood after tanu Weds Manu returns,she had it all.fashionista,attitude, commercial success,acting talent, National award,money ,brands,beauty sex appeal,personality,good oratory skills.she messed it up.hopefully she reclaims it all back.alia is at the moment better than Deepika,her closest competition is Kriti who lacks personality,tapsee can take that position but Karan is actively trying to sabotage so at the moment tapsee doesn’t have huge commercial success,shraddha had sex appeal beauty and successful films but no acting talent.maybe Sanya Malhotra in a few years can take over.sara Ali Khan has potential but she is on same level as Alia in terms of acting.so I guess we have to endure Alia for a few years until someone breaks out.

well this answers one question I had – why shraddha doesn’t get bigger projects. she’s given two massive hits (in terms of return on investment) – aashiqui 2 and stree but she never gets topline projects or the chance to show what she’s really capable of in terms of acting. i agree with irffan she was achingly good in haider. personally i think Alia was miscast in Raazi she made the character too childish. someone like Shraddha or Tapsee might have given the role more depth and gravitas…
the thing is the average movie and TV watching junta wont know the inside stories of how shraddha got kicked out of udta (and i heard katrina was the original choice for dear zindagi). they will believe alia is a sweet bubbly girl and the most brilliant actress as the critics (and every guest on kwk) keep raving about her. and because she consistently gets good projects with ace directors and A-list star cast she will continue to taste success….Bollywood mein koi karma jaisi cheez nahi hai…
I’ve also felt Yami is another who acts well and has beautiful screen presence. I found Kriti a breath of fresh air in Bareilly ki Barfi. Radhika is getting a lot of work but not top Bwood projects which I think she is perfectly capable of…
PS all this talk of deepika not getting work by multiple commenters has thoroughly depressed me guys 🙁 I used to wonder a lot whether she consciously took a break for her wedding or it was something else. she herself admitted she hasnt read any scripts that have excited her, which I guess could also mean she hasnt been offered enough or at the right price relative to the male star (she hinted that was the reason she rejected a film with ranbir). What is wrong with Bollywood. Anyway films like Uri, Stree and Badhaai Ho have proven there is no point paying Hindi film heroes such a massive premium. So pay them less and pay the actresses more to reduce the differential, and heck while you’re at it start paying the writers more for gods sake!

Aye @Lucy I agree with most of what you said but I think other actresses who are better than potato aren’t being given good scripts. Think about it. Even if someone gives a really good performance but the movie is shit, they’ll not be getting any recognition for it. Snake KJo goes out of his way to hand over all the good scripts to Bhatt. Heck she’s even whined about having too much work when the likes of Deepika and Anushka still struggle for good scripts. It must be even worse for the newcomers like Kruti etc. I really wish Bollywood was KJo free. He’s like cancer.
As of now the only two actresses I think Karan won’t be able to push away is Sanya and tapsee.kriti is good,but as of now not brilliant enough to fight off lobby for awards and get one for herself.like getting awards is a stamp of approval for best actress,Karan buys them for Alia.but it’s acceptable as the others are slightly better than alia.when the other actresses performance is so good that people almost make a huge and cry for them not getting an award is when these award show organizers are forced to change the winners.i have seen that happen for Vidya,and last time in 2014 when deepika won for happy new year when Richa had masaan,kangana had queen.this seasons awards are already brought for Alia for raazi,and the other actresses though gave better commercially successful performance were not phenomenal.somost probably there will be no hue and cry over Alia winning.
But if Karan is thinking of buying Alia a National award against the performance of keerty Suresh for mahanati,they both will be ripped apart on social media.this is what I meant when I said the others need to be better than Alia,not just marginally better but brilliant on the levels of kangana.only then Karan won’t be able to sell the Alia is meryl Streep , Jen Lawrence of India narrative.otherwise it gets easy for him to undermine the other actresses success,like how he did with Stree vs raazi.
Lucy,i agree with u.but u misunderstood me.i think kangana’s acting is better than all of them.but having said that,for queen there was Vikas n for twmr there was anand.i by no means taking anything away from her success but one need at least a decent director especially for an actress to showcase her performance cause who knows what goes on the editing table.i was just stating if we compare shraddha n kangana then we should do it fairly like taking same level director into account. if u compare their performance on Mohit Suri film like raaz n aashiqi,was kangana too good than her? Then in vishal’s film like rangoon n Haider, was shraddha bad than her? Thats all I’m saying.
I agree with your point.acting I feel is a combination of everyone’s skill.kangana gave disastrous performance as well in rajjo and all those cheesy films she did.vidya also did ghanchakkar after her critically rated films.i feel little bit of talent and a lot of talent from the technical team is needed to mould a good performance.alia doesn’t have any of those,not even for highway and udta and dear Zindagi,I personally felt she made them crap and someone else would have been better.but Alia gets the best actress tag as Karan rounds up the whole industry especially the veteran actresses and makes them declare Alia to be the best actress to be born in this world.someome like shraddha Kriti Yami don’t have that level of push.they give good performance but not brilliant enough to be able to fight off the lobby for alia.these women might need a peformance like queen or dirty picture or no one killed Jessica to fight through all of Karan johar conspiracy and establish themselves as better actresses.as of now I see that in tapsee,I saw her court scene in mulk,and Sanya Malhotra is supposed to be brilliant in photograph.that level of acting Alia can never match,nor can Karan use his tactics to sideline them in favor or alia like he did to shraddha in Stree,Kriti in barely.these films acting was good but not good enough to win awards.
As of now I really hope Kriti four films become blockbuster,and shraddha also has a good lineup.i am rooting for these four to give tough competition to Alia in the commercial success space.
Alia was very low energy with RS,in the interview, I saw! RS was wild like his character in the film, Alia was looking blank ,she did not Add anything fun,or match RK responses like Sara had done! Should have finished school Alia. if nothing else could have make better choice in BF, which is not looking very promising !

well then she should do more movies where she is the lead. When she read the script did she not realize it is not about her but she is the supporting love interest? I think after doing movies like highway, raazi, dear zindagi maybe she finds its hard to be second lead even if it means the story revolves around the male protagonist. Looks like more of these actresses are demanding better money, more presence, lengthier roles and more creative control. Its also refreshing to see some of them refusing to act with the Khans who sideline everyone else and dominate the movie. But not to worry Katrina and Kareena will still fill in those flower pot roles.
why do they need a blind when on no filter with neha zoya mentioned that kjo had called her to make sure alia was being included in all things related to gullyboy weeks before?? . Also can someone remind alia this is how vicky felt when he was majorly ignored by kjo and alia during raazi promotions untill a week before the release.
Zoya on No filter Neha revealed that kjo and Reshma called her up when Aloo felt that she was being ignored by Zoya during the shooting. She was present at the trailer lunch, music launch and missed the fashion show only the next day this blind and Aloo’s dialogue promo came out. Also kjo is present at some promotion event along with Zoya, Ranveer, Alia.
@monalisa Alia is so used to control and attention dharma gives she cant handle when not given the same attention by other producer’s ah the privilege of a star kid. She should be glad she has kjo who thn calls in for favors for her and asks people to give her attention a luxury not available to any outsider .The movies revolves around the life of rapper so of course the focus will be on them not alia’s character. just saw kjo got alia elle cover along with her as his BFF kjo why is she worried kjo has her covered till she gets him return of investment she is basically what srk was to kjo before their fight

@monalisa I do think both alia/kjo are peas in a pod . pretty sure alia will go after sanya who has been selected faces to look out for faces at berlin film fest
