Bollywood Blind Item – April 2020 – 22

There have been soooo many blind items about this actor and his newfound insecurity when his hit phase was cut short at the box office. It’s almost as if someone is making fun of him for being this insecure and panicking like crazy after just delivering, what, 2 flops!

So now, other than wanting to do commercial cinema he’s also interested in hooking up with this new director who already has two big hits to his credit. This is usually how stars work, they hook up with the most successful director in town and hope some of that magic will rub on them.

Well, let’s hope whatever he’s trying to make is going to work out otherwise more blind items are going to come out about this whole situation. Dude is on lockdown now so if he is really spending his days thinking about his flops, we cannot imagine how nervous he must be feeling about his future in Bollywood. His own wedding might not even happen!

That’s the thing with success, once you taste it you want more of it. And if you fall off the ladder, you go crazy trying to get back on it. Just ask any star who has been number one!

Check out the blind item from Rajeev Masand.

Lockdown Rethink

A popular young actor who has had back-to-back duds in expensive commercial projects is reportedly spending lockdown rethinking his career strategy. The actor has never made any bones about the fact that he wants to be a ‘masala hero’, but recent failures have made him question whether he needs to expand his scope of work. Earlier attempts to stretch his range with meaningful films yielded encouraging responses from fans and critics.

Yet, he doesn’t want to do what he has described to his inner circle as “hardcore niche films”. (Whatever that means!) According to the industry grapevine, he’s been having regular chats with one young filmmaker whose two films were both high-concept, ‘content driven’ crowd pleasers with shrewdly integrated social commentary.

He’s badgered him to come up with something that would suit his oversized personality, and turns out they’ve agreed on a dark comedy with monster movie undertones. More soon; watch this space.

Young Actor: Varun Dhawan

Young Filmmaker: Amar Kaushik

Two Films: Bala and Stree

“I love Amar (Kaushik) as a director. He is someone with whom I would like to work in future. I think the ‘Bala’s trailer is really unique and the film has really good actors like Saurabh Shukla, Javed Jaffrey, Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar — and Ayushmann is obviously wonderful,” said Varun, while interacting with the media at a special screening of “Bala”.
