Disaster before release

It was meant to be one of the biggest films of the year. After all, its lead actors are card-carrying members of the 100-crore club. But, as the release date approaches, stories of unhappy producers and the lead actor suggest that the film and its director are in trouble. It all started when the producers decided to not shoot the film in the more expensive format the director wanted. Midway through, the lead actor developed cold feet when he realised that the film was not shaping up well. On the editing table, the director was forced to trim the film to the bare minimum to keep the producers happy. And now, the lead actor has point-blank refused to promote what he says will be ‘an unmitigated disaster’. The second-time director is so low on goodwill within the industry that he might find it tough to bounce back from another flop.

Her last film also had multiple heroines and one hero and though she was the main heroine, a debutante walked away with all the praise for the film. So, for the new film, with the same production house, the actress did an elaborate look test in preparation for the shoot overseas in June. She spent a whole day trying out various outfits, make-up and hairstyles till she was happy with the results. Who said being an actress was easy!
