Blind Item – March 2018 – Bollywood 6

Many readers have asked us about the actress featured in the blind item below. It’s like she has this small group of fans, who want to know more about her. Whenever there’s a blind item that speaks of her, she is always described as “pretty”, “beautiful”, “porcelain skin” or “attractive”. That is the range from which they chose the words to describe her. We are only highlighting this because no other actress gets this kind of description in blind items.

The blind item today is about this actress and how she bagged another film by this famous and well-respected director. It is surprising considering how she didn’t get that many positive feedback about her role the first time she worked with him. What she did is a good and clean business tactic, so good for her for thinking of ways to get lead roles. Even in Bollywood, they don’t really give out lead roles to her, so it’s good that she knew when to target other film industries. At her age, we assume that the hustle is going to be harder. Still it’s good for her, she’s creating her own opportunities with very smart marketing skills.

About this director, what can we say? His films used to be in vogue, as in when his films used to come out they were big deals. Those days, there was no internet and no CDs or DVDs; it was all on VHS tapes or you had to go to the cinemas to see it. Every time his films in the 90s released, everyone would be talking about it. It was groundbreaking during these times. The terrorism angle, Muslim-Hindu marriage and so on. Let’s not forget he also introduced to the world the talent of this musician, who went on to become one of the greatest music directors in India; he also happens to be the most expensive music director in India, in case you are looking to hire his services!

Anyways, for a long time now the director has been trying to please today’s generation by adapting to their sensibilities. His latest movies now have become very alien to us and we don’t really get it. Even though his film before the one starring this actress was a huge hit (it was a flop remake in Hindi), we couldn’t see his magic touch in the film. It’s like he doesn’t have his signature or his touch anymore. Back in those days, you could watch a film and say that this is his film. It’s not the case anymore! Maybe he’s doing all he can to still be the great filmmaker that he is known to be. That must be really frustrating for him to live up to his own hype!

Check out today’s blind item from Mumbai Mirror.

    Bollywood Blind Item

    Blind Item – March 2018 - Bollywood 6

THIS attractive actor, who plays the part of a naïve nymph to the hilt, seems to have landed herself a pretty neat package in the south. She has been signed on for two films with a legendary filmmaker. While everyone is scratching their head wondering how she managed this coup, we are willing to tell. She’s made besties with the filmmaker’s niece, hired her as her stylist for her several ribbon-cuttings, and has made her way into the filmmaker’s camp. We think it’s such a clever move — you get great parts and great clothes, too.

    1. she has Zero screen presence. Keeps doing those same old chhui mui innocent girl roles. from certain angles she looks like a frog lol

    2. As much as aditi is trying to act like she is in her 20s maybe last year or two years ago she could have misled ppl…now her age is showing up in her face whether she wants to accept it or not. I think she is very close to 40 if she aint there already. But nevermind the age, if she could really act and these movies will show us this, it doesnt matter to me her age. I just want to see some nice movies coming out…it has been a while

    3. I have nothing to say about Aditi’s acting as I have not seen her work much.
BUt I am a Fan of her Beauty, considering she is almost 40 yrs old.. but look at her skin, OMG… I would love to know her secrets. Aditi looks like in her early to Mid 20’s.. And even her makeup is always on point…

    4. I’ve watched only 2-3 movies of her and didn’t find anything special in her acting skills. About her looks, she’s pretty for sure. But there’s something missing, she has a easily forgettable face. When DP, Kat, Sonam started, they had something for us to remember them (I’m not talking about acting skills).
Having said that, looking at the next gen – nepo list in the line, Aditi is well above the line. End of the day, whether you’re talented or not, you have to find an alternative way to get that first break. All the best for her!

    5. Aditi can play the naive, innocent girl pretty well and has that spotless complexion.. But, I never found her pretty and I don’t see any star quality… She can just play supportive roles… I am yet to see versatility… Whatever it is, I wish her well….

      1. Aditi is beautiful and also very good actress but…not superstar material. First and most important requirement of a super star ….phenomenal screen presence. Very few posses that and only with this quality one becomes a BIG star.

    6. maybe I’m wrong and will later admit it, but Aditi for me is absolutely colorless. Pale clone of Deepika Padukonе. I do not see in it either a huge talent, no charisma or anything else. She’s like Sushant for me. both colorless and not interesting

      1. @rashmi Eventhough Aditi is pretty and a decent actress she got no screen presence whatsoever. That is why she looks so dull and uninteresting on screen. Her role in Padmaavat was the only role of her that people noticed eventhough she had been acting in movies for quite some time. Maybe because that role suited her so well.

Sushant is a good actor but he got no screen presence. I feel the same way about Ranbir as well. Both decent actors with mediocre screen presence. Out of all gen-next actors Ranveer’s got immense screen presence (Rajkumar Rao comes second). It became more evident in his scenes with Shahid in Padmaavat. Eventhough Shahid is a good actor Ranveer stole all your attention whenever they both are onscreen (even Shahid was saying his dialogues).

        1. there should be a separate discussion on why Ranveer stole the show with interested parties.anyone interested in giving their inputs?

          1. I like Shahid as an actor. I think he’s one of the few who can act in the current lot. But when RS is in the screen, his talent and personality over shadow other cast. It happens with Rajkumar too. Everytime I watch their movies I completely forget about other cast. It takes few days to realise others were good too (when they were).

            1. Shahid got best of the dialogs…In every face off with Ranveer …Shahid always had better lines and on winning side. Yet, Ranveer stole the show.

The roles on paper are all one dimensional. Its the actor’s treatment of what is given to them…Shahid has been telling soon after he signed the movie that ” he will play in an understated way”. Ranveer played it with ‘style’ and ‘Flamboyance ‘ . Ranveer was not loud anywhere…all his dialogs are in flat tone…but the pleasure and calculation on his mind as Khilji is visible on his face. In fact Ranveer also presents comic relief in the movie.

Yes, Shahid is a good actor has excellent Dialog delivery but Ranveer is a show stealer…even in regular interviews and promotions to Big Screen. When you play a role like ‘Khilji’ you need to let yourself go, completely uninhibited (mallik kafur angle).

Entire industry was making fun of Ranveer once upon a time…even shahid thought ‘Ranbir’ can do kaminey but not ‘Ranveer’. He was excellent as ‘peshwa bajirao’ he even topped that as ‘Khilji’. way to go my boy !

              1. I think it’s not the industry, KJo and the gang. The issue is they are louder. They thought RK is ‘the actor’. He’s talented for sure. But his offscreen behaviour is such a turnoff. He’s just a physcho jerk.
It’s funny sometimes we hate actors when we know they are talented and we have to look at only the talent. RK is the only one matches this statement for me.

                1. RS can do what RK did …play urban roles. Can RK play ‘ Peshwa Bajirao’ ? Ram ? Khilji to the level RS did .

I saw ‘yeh jawaani hai deewani’ , wake up sid, bachan ee… He is fine in urban roles , the usual coming of age movies he had done a lot. I will say he is talented when he entralls me in a role in his own style.

Dutt biopic is again close to his lifestyle… Rich star kid with money and women and drugs…lost his way etc… he is not doing something utterly out his usual territory.

                  1. @kiran101 I don’t why people say Ranveer can only do flamboyant, loud and energetic roles. He performed well in restrained, intense and subtle roles in Lootera, DDD and Bajirao. These roles were not loud or ott and he was critically acclaimed for his portrayal.

Ranbir could not pull off an over the top, flamboyant role in Besharam or the role of a 1950s street fighter in Bombay velvet yet people think he is so versatile. Also when has Ranbir done a rustic character like Ram? Or a negative character like Khilji or a warrior minister like Bajirao? Ranveer has played a college age loud mouth Delhi boy in BBB, a modern day con artist (with 3 different roles) in LVRB, gangstar of1970s in gunday, con artist from 1950s in Lootera, an assasin/lover boy in Kill/dil, a commitment phobic comedian in Befikre, urban rich boy in DDD so his roles are more varied and he shown more range than Ranbir. Also unlike Ranbir he can perform well in roles that are out of his comfort zone ( subtle, intense, restrained roles) whereas Ranbir could not perform (flamboyant, loud roles) well.

Bittoo Sharma (BBB) and Ram (RamLeela) are roles tailor-made for Ranveer and there is no actor (atleast from the current gen) who could have pulled it off better than him. But I cannot remember any role of Ranbir (did not watch Rockstar,so excluding that role) that I could say the same thing for. Ranveer (Anurag’s original choice) could have done Bombay velvet better than Ranbir. Also Ranveer is more suited for Ranbir’s role in Besharam. I would really love to see Ranveer’s interpretation of Barfi as he got great comic timing. Rajkumar Rao could have done his Rajneeti role. All his other roles are of urban, coming of age or lover boys or men with commitment issues or timid losers. Any decent actor could have done them. And totally agree with you on Dutt biopic.

                  2. @kiran101 I completely agree with you. And some say he played to the gallery in some scenes of Padmaavat ( I don’t agree with this view). But if you watch his interviews you will know that was the instruction given to him by SLB for those scenes. As you said his menacing voice, body language, the menacing and intense look in his eyes stole the show. He made a villain like Khilji charismatic and sexy.

              2. Hmm, maybe. about Aditi, you’re right. Yes, she is beautiful (clone of Deepika), but for me it is boring. I do not know why. maybe there will be a film, there will be a role and I will say Wow! (I do not deny this possibility), but now for me it is very colorless. I have not watched Padmavati yet. Ranveer, yes, he has a powerful energy, I like him. By the way RANBIR ME also LIKE, as an actor, but he has another energy, more restrained. about Rajkumar I can not agree, he is talented, he has a charm, I am pleased to look at him, but he absolutely does not have a starry aura like have Ranveer. What do you think about Varun? does Varun have a starry aura? I like him, pleasant, interesting, but I can not say that he is too talented. In my opinion, he is an average

                1. I believe if the actor is well talented as he has to be, we forget about how average he looks or his off screen personality. That’s what happens with Rajkumar to me. I find him immensely talented. But with RS it’s both the talent and personality. Varun atleast genuinely tries. When we compare with other limited actors he’s good. But for me he’s average and mostly overacting.

                  1. Also, I wanted get OSOP readers’ opinion on the video of RS saw on PV. He had a huge line of fans waiting to take photographs with him and he was pushing them away once clicked, if I’m not mistaken even female fans. From his side, it’s fair since he can’t wait hours spending on that, but on the other hand it looked kind of rude.

                  2. I do not in any way argue with your opinion, I like Rao too, but not as a hero (as we understand this word) he has a non-standard appearance, but he can be sexy. I noticed it in Aligarh) I was shocked then. the more interesting to me is the film with 2 amazing artists of my beloved Kangana and Rajkumar, soon we will see them both in one film. I wonder whose talent will take up))

                    1. Oh yeah, I love them both and can’t wait for the movie. Hope it won’t be a disappointment like Kangana’s last movie.

                      1. do you mean disappointment in the box office? I also hope that the film will be a minimum hit. that about the plot, Simran liked me. Kangana was simply gorgeous. Yes, the script was raw and could be done much better, but her performance was unmatched. I so fell in love with Simran, despite the fact that it is imperfect and full of shortcomings

                        1. I wasn’t disappointed with Kangana. But they could’ve used her better. The script ruined the whole movie

                          1. @pav and @rashmi I really want to see Ranveer and Kangana in a movie. They are both so talented and I want to see him work with talented actresses. Also they seem friendly with each other so the promotion interviews for the movie will be fun and interesting.

                            1. Oh yeah, I doubt if anyone would dare to. But if it happens, that’ll be the biggest treat for the audience. I’m kinda of tired watching DP and RS together. I didn’t even watch BM even though I wanted to see RS performance.watched Padmavat only for RS and DP was a plain Jane.

                              1. I think SLB’s touch also makes a clear difference to RS. Look at him in movies with Bhansali and elsewhere. This is not to say RS can’t pull it off. He is a bloody good actor and that craziness in him to go to any lengths makes him a sort of enigma in current crop of actors. Shaheed too was decent in Padmaavat actually. I thought DP was bland compared to the other two.
As far as stealing the show comes, in addition to his talent and effort, it’s also the case of bad boys attracting people. You know like the forbidden fruit always entices?
Overall, I saw Padmaavat and felt RS was on another level altogether. I hope he isn’t the target of nepo cabal now that he is some distance ahead of their favorite Kapoor for the next superstar tag.

                                1. He played a good boy in ‘Bajirao’ . Its like Ranveer did both Ratan and Khilji role … Ratan like Bajirao falls in love with another woman having a wife already…both Honorable and righteous and bad-ass in battlefield. Both ignored their first wife’s for their 2nd wife.

Its how you make a bad boy attractive… did anyone get attracted to bad guys from other movies who were rapists and sadists. Its the actor who makes the bad boy desirable its not a general theory.

                                2. @Rashmi and Pav: I felt the same way about Simran. Kangana played that character so well – the fidgety body language (an edgy character), perfect Gujrati, broken English (as a person in her social class in the US would be). As for box office, this movie would not have been as successful as Queen mainly because the protagonist of the film was an un-glamorous, strong-willed woman with “major” character flaws (she is a risk-lover — loves gambling, engages in casual sex, is incarcerated), had no redeeming qualities and was unapologetic about any of this. Even at the end of the movie, she did not change. Indian society does not take kindly to such women. This is the radical opposite of the “sundar and susheel” template for lead actresses that Indian movies follow for mass appeal. The script and direction were surely flawed. Ordinarily, one would end up hating Simran as a character because this is not an author-backed endearing/relatable role, but Kangana humanized her and made the movie so much more enjoyable, which is a testament to her sheer talent as an actor.

Just as superb as in Tanu Weds Manu Returns. To play a double role where the characters are as different as chalk and cheese in terms of body language, diction and appearance – its was a masterclass in acting! That’s why I love Kangana as an actress. And love Rajkumar Rao too. I was revisiting some scenes from Queen the other day, and could not help but feel so happy for these superb actors. What a beautiful film! As a movie lover, I wish Bollywood made more these films with these actors. 🙂

                                  1. Why should i watch a movie with a heroine who has major character flaws, who sleeps around?? I never slept around nor, do i see the need, for me to watch movies with such characters. Its bad enough that I have to tolerate sadistic psycho ranbir kapoor playing innocent little boy roles in Bollywood.

                                3. @rashmi I haven’t watched much of Varun’s movies but I feel he overacts and he is a Salman wannabe. Everyone went gaga over his acting in Badlapur but I felt it was nothing that special (maybe he did not overact so people liked the performance). I’m very unsure of his screen presence, I feel he got some screen presence (not at the level of Salman though, the person he copies) that is why his movies work even though he is a mediocre actor. Non-actors like Katrina, Salman also got good screen presence and because of it survived at the top.

Regarding Rajkumar I said he got screen presence because out of all the gen next actors, I feel like he is the only actor (apart from RS) who enthralls me with his performances. Maybe it is his sheer talent (not a combination of talent and screen presence) that is making me go wow. I said his name because no one else from this gen came to my mind after RS. No one from this generation come close to Ranveer’s screen presence.

                                  1. I completely agree with you. Varun is loud and does overact at times but he does have a screen presence and you notice him in the scenes. Main tera hoon is good example he was loud but he had good presence. I didnt like judwa 2 at all but he was still ok. I feel has a combination of Salman and Govinda.

In terms of Ranveer he is a great actor and has huge screen presence. In dil dadhakne do he under played it and look sauve too while he stole the show in Ram, Bajirao and Padmavaat. Since Padmavaat is on amazon prime now. It would be good to watch it again in HD quality rather than seeing some ugly print online in the past.

Rajkumar looks like an average guy but when he is in the scene you notice him and he plays his character with much sincerity. He was awesome in Bareily and even Shaadi Main zaroor aana. I think we would see his range of acting more if he plays urban kind of character in future.

Shahid is nice and i like him in kaminey, Haider but i think he is obsessed with him and demeans others which is kinda bad.

                                  2. I think Varun was great in badlapur. Also i, think October will be his next hit and critically acclaimed performance. But yes Ranveer and rajkumar are leagues ahead!!

                            2. yes is that majority people said “Khilji’s own wife is more beautiful than padmaavati” 😂

                              1. majority people said that own wife Khilji was actually a clone of Padmavati, also said why Khilji was obsessed Padmavati if his wife is her copy? but they did not say that the wife was much more beautiful than Padmavati, because they are very similar

                              2. I dont understand…Khilji in the movie did not see ‘Padmavathi’ he was obsessediwith the idea of her beauty which is supposed to be Nayaab(Rare). A singhal princess may present to khilji as rare beauty compared to afghan beauties he sees everyday.

This is a period movie ….people are not hopping off international flights like today where we see women/Men from all over the world. It makes complete sense in this context that ‘Allauddin’ would want a beauty from across the sea who looked nothing like typical Afghan beauties he sees everyday.

                                1. After i watched crappy quality version of Padmavat, i went online to check basically what happened to Khilji after Padmavaat jauhar. Now many people online commented that Khilji angle of padmavaat may or may have not happened in real. Jauhar did happen due to Khilji but there is a myth about whether he was obsessed with the queen or not. Amir Khusro noted poet who was alive during Khilji’s time and shown in movie too has not said anything about Khilji’s obsession. Movies is based on a poet’s version of 17th Century and hence it remains a myth. It would be nice to see a movie on Khilji but doubt that will happen since he lived short and his life of full of atrocities and then his sexuality too.

                                  1. Khilji will always be shown as a villain in Bollywood bcuz that’s what he really was.

                                2. But aditi looks nothing like afghan!! Same way sridevi didn’t look afghan but still got cast in Khuda gawah.
