Blind Item – 2017 – Bollywood – October 7

The second blind item for you today comes from Mid Day. It’s about this young actress though MD seems to indicate that we should not be calling her an actress, she should be addressed as “pretty young lady”. Well, that’s almost most of the youngsters in Bollywood today. It’s why guessing who this blind item is about was difficult. We think we have cracked it, but if you have someone else in mind, do let us know.

Im the meantime, enjoy this blind item of a jewel. We have to say though we have never felt the fascination with owning jewellery. Women have had their necks slashed because of their jewellery and yet, that doesn’t stop other women from wearing theirs proudly. To date, we don’t own a single piece of jewellery. We put the money to better use, like feeding strays. Sometimes just for fun, we take the necklace or bracelets of someone else and put it on the pets; it’s quite adorable but you have to make sure that the pets don’t get out of your sight because they will remove it and you will be dead if that’s an expensive piece of jewellery!

With that lesson, check out the blind item below.

    Blind Item – 2017 - Bollywood - October 7

    Not forever?

This beautiful young star (no one’s accused her of being an actress yet) is believed to have spent a small fortune recently buying herself a pair of beautiful 2-carat solitaire earrings. Like most women, it had always been a symbol of having made it on her own terms, and she was naturally very chuffed with her purchase. However, sources say her excitement came crashing down when some of her ‘friends’ pricked her bubble, by informing her that she had paid almost twice the amount she should have for the beauties.

Now, the glamorous young lady is said to be gunning for the friend through whom she is believed to have made the purchase. That this happens to be one of her closest gal pals, her gym buddy, and also her business partner is causing considerable fur to fly, as one can imagine. Who said they were a girl’s best friend, in any case?

    1. Money matters on this blog again..

I don’t know why Shraddha would think that buying 2 carat earrings would be a symbol of making it on her own terms. She already has a Mercedes which costs 52 lacs INR.

Apparently she charges 3-4 crore INR per movie. A pair of 1 carat earrings (2 carat total weight) would be around $10,000 USD. A pair of 2 carat earrings (4 ctw) is around $25,000 USD. At the very most she should have paid 12 lacs INR ($25,000) for the earrings, and if her bestie charged double, it would be 24 lacs. This is a lot of money for us mere mortals, but likely isn’t the most this lady has spent on anything. Diamonds are a garbage investment anyway.

      1. Don’t be fooled by how much an actor charges. He/she has a lot of people who work for them who they have to pay. Like drivers, personal assistants, personal stylists, trainer and so many more. For themselves, an actor and actress don’t get the full amount they charge. That’s why they do shows and appearances to earn a little more by the side.

        1. Indeed, this is true. The Government will likely take their share too. But the point that I am making is that spending 24 lacs as a ‘I made it!’ gift seems ridiculous when one already has spent a little over half a crore on a luxury car and a plush new apartment in Juhu this year. Surely these are greater markers of success than a paltry 24 lacs on earrings.

For this reason, I don’t believe the subject of this blind is Shraddha, rather some new starlet like Pooja Hegde

            1. Now we are comparing apples to oranges. Pooja has had a so-so acting career in the south and an alright modelling career.

Whether she has made it or not, despite being nominated for Best Actress in Filmfare (South India) and SIIMA is a matter of conjecture, and also dependent on how seriously you take these likely paid-for awards.

Btw, Pooja is just an example. I suppose other celebrities like Kriti Kharbanda could also fit in this slot. Someone like Disha Patani or Kriti Sanon, I would consider to be on the border-line here.

These are all guesses. I don’t even know if Pooja or Kriti or Disha can afford these since I have zero understanding of their financial matters. I’m gauging this purely on the basis of their box office power and popularity.

What we can say though is that Shraddha is more successful than these others in B-town, has already had purchases greater than a measly pair of earrings, and of all of them, Shraddha is least likely to consider a 25 lac purchase as a success symbol, if you will.

              1. True and we are talking about someone who has made it but isn’t so much of an actress. In mind, only Shraddha and Jacqueline fit the bill. Doubt that Jacqueline will buy her own diamonds so that leaves us with Shraddha.
