Angelina Jolie appears on Time magazine for this month. She recently declared, a day after Mother’s Day, that she had a mastectomy to decrease her chances of having breast cancer. In her words that she has written for The New York Times, Angelina said that it was a decision she took so that she can be there for her children unlike her mother, who succumbed to breast cancer many years ago. Angie decided to take this step after she discovered she had a mutated BRCA1 gene known to raise risks of breast and ovarian cancers.
