A Misleading Headline to Get TRPs

This is very unprofessional of all the news outlets that have reported the news below this way just to get clicks. Let’s face it, a headline like this make people curious to see what the drama is about. But, it is very unprofessional because they are using just one famous person’s name to associate him with a crime that he has nothing to do with. He’s only guilty of having this person as a member of his family and it’s not like he had any control over that either! Check out the headline that we are talking about below:

A Misleading Headline to Get TRPs

Is it right for the media to make this news more relevant by adding Arjun Rampal’s name to it? Imagine a headline like this implicating you with this disgusting crime when you had nothing to do with it!

    1. @Kali: Amen sister! Click bait-y articles are everywhere. Another headline I came across today: “Arjun Rampal’s former brother-in-law booked for molesting air hostess” !!

What else can be expected when digital entertainment divisions of major news networks are run by former Zoom TV hosts? Unfortunately, more broadly, the Fourth Estate in this country is just as corrupt and unethical as the government. And sadly, investigative journalism has been long dead and gone from Indian media. This is one of the main reasons why #metoo and #timesup did not gain momentum in India. It was because of NY Times, etc.’s painstaking research and investigative journalism over several years, that those cases/stories gained legitimacy, the victims earned credibility to file lawsuits, and ultimately the powerful abusers in Hollywood and politics came swinging down.

Will this moment ever arrive in India? I look for hope .. but perhaps a Bollywood gossip site is not the right place 😛 😛

        1. @Kali: There were technical issues while posting the comment, so must have gotten eaten up by the interface … but were re-posts anyway … In hindsight, looks like it was some other article I had in mind and not admin’s “Arjun Rampal’s former brother-in-law booked for molesting air hostess”, but no recollection what that was. Gobbledygook 😛 😛

    2. Admin-ji. This is very commonplace.

News articles these days generate revenue bases on clicks, not content. Isliye aaj kal we are reading bullshit articles with tag lines like ‘Mira throws Shahid out of house’ and ‘Deepika and Ranbir are getting back together’. This headline certainly got your attention right? It did mine. As far as this news network is concerned ‘Mission Successful’.

Did you not see the other piece of news also aired today? “Sexual Assault Complaint Filed Against Sarbjit Producer & Omung Kumar’s Business Partner“. Poor Omung Kumar probably isn’t even in Mauritius at this time. Believe it or not, in logon ne Sanjay Leela Bhansali ko bhi isme ghused diya. “Sandeep (accused), who is currently Omung Kumar’s business partner, used to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali earlier.”
