2018 – November – Bollywood Blind Item 9

It is a little strange to read the blind item below mainly because there were reports that stated a top director has taken control of this project to ensure that the post production goes on well. See, the director of the film was ousted as soon as the #MeToo movement started and the heat came on his case, which was something that he did years ago and also something that everyone knew about. When that happened, the actor of the film tweeted a message how he will not work with any proven perverts and creeps.

According to the blind item by Rajeev Masand below, it seems that his message was just to make people happy that he too is joining hands to clean up Bollywood. He and his father asked the director to continue his work on the film without mentioning a word to anyone. This movie is important for this actor on so many levels, but since the beginning the film has been hit with controversies after controversies. It doesn’t help that the star charged a humongous amount to be in this film and take on the lead role.

With already so much at stake, it remains to be seen how this film will fare at the box office and how the audience will take it. Earlier on, it was promoted as a biopic but then people, who were close the person that this film is based on, have come out to prove that his story is mostly based on lies and a huge exaggeration hence the makers decided to promote the film as an “inspired by true events’ story.

It is also strange that the father of this actor is still very much involved in his acting and movie-making process, not for him but for his son. At first, he was against the son signing up this film so he asked the director to work on the script to make it stronger. They probably want the story to touch people like ‘Dangal’ did, but since this story is a little far-fetched from the real story, it is not going to happen.

Seriously though, the fact that father and son have asked the same creep director to get back on board quietly is nothing surprising. Actually not just them, everyone else in the industry, who are pretending to stand up and realise only now how dirty some men have been, are all doing a great acting job. It has always been about the money and will always remain that way. On the inside, they are wishing for this thing/movement to go away so that they can resume their normal activities. Thankfully in this day and age with social media playing such an important part, this movement will not die down so soon since there are so many people invested in making these culprits pay for what they did.

Bollywood Blind Item

Under the Radar

Bollywood insiders are saying the MeToo movement has lost its steam after two tense weeks. After all, only one film director and one talent agency head lost their jobs after multiple women alleged harassment by them. There haven’t been any major consequences for others who were named and shamed.

This includes a film director who was one of the first to be called out for his reprehensible behaviour with a former co-worker. After the leading man of his under-production film distanced himself from him, it seemed as if his despicable actions had finally caught up with him. But sources reveal that he is supervising the film’s post production. Turns out the star and his producer papa decided it would be wise for him to keep a low profile while finishing the film, so he’s been flying under the radar, avoiding attention as he completes sound and background music supervision.

Tsk, tsk.
