Everyone has been saying that Bollywood or the Indian Film Industry will soon be hit by the #MeToo campaign. It hasn’t happened yet. We don’t think it will happen soon. You know why? Because these industry people will stand by each other.
The only way the #MeToo campaign can really take off is if someone really powerful takes the lid off these influential industry people. This is how Harvey Weinstein was attacked by hundreds of women. You know who made that possible? His own brother! His brother wanted him out of the movie production company they both owned and this was how he envisioned Harvey’s ouster. What happened next or rather the huge response that this got, he probably never saw it happening. In the end, the company itself is pretty much shutting down because no one wants to associate themselves with a rapist, pervert, molestor and any other degrading names you can think of.
Prior to this, a lot of people stood by Harvey. Some famous actresses claimed they had no idea what he was doing to other women.
It’s not true at all, everyone knew and they all kept quiet. The same way they know these little kids working in the television and movie industry are in the same situation and they do nothing about it. In India too, the only way these perverts can get outed is if one of their own rats them out. Even if that happens, what are the odds of actresses and actors coming forward and saying that they too have gone through the casting couch thing? The likelihood of this happening is very little.
