2018 – April – Bollywood Blind Item 4

The blind item below is about this film mogul. According to Mumbai Mirror, he is a film mogul. It’s a little strange because when we picture a mogul in our head, he doesn’t match the description. Maybe this director has good connections with Mumbai Mirror or the blind item’s writer, who knows!

The blind item is talking about how the mogul’s best friend wants to make a TV show out of one of his hit films. We are surprised that it took her this long to ask. Basically, most of her shows are based on the themes of his movies. Anyways, do anyone of you watch hindi TV shows? Back in the day, we used to watch ‘Astitva’ and ‘Kasamh Se’. Then it got really tiring because we realised that they are just stretching the story. Speaking of story, did you know that Hindi TV writers get paid more than Bollywood movie writers?

Check out what Mumbai Mirror is talking about in the blind item below.

WE love it when friends turn collaborators. Like in the case of this film mogul and his BFF, a television czarina. We hear the czarina wants to turn one of his mega films — a family entertainer — into a soap, and has asked him for the rights of the same. We hear he is keen, too. More so, since she has offered to co-produce the TV show with him. Looks like a done deal, if you ask us.

    BFF: Ekta Kapoor

    Film: K3G

This picture is epic! Like he’s nudging her in her behind and she’s stopping him.

    1. Agreed with many that Indian TV is at a mess now and all they do is create a hype to generate Trp’s. While visiting home and having to watch few shows daily as my parents used to follow from 7-9 pm ist. Wow that was a nightmare. At end of the 3 week holiday even i started following the shows lol. However when back to my place i couldnt continue them tho i must admit i had wanted to catch up on couple of tv shows but eventually gave up. The only tv show worth watching now is Rising superstar love it for the talent and concept the show has.

Also admin and others, hope you remember Thoda Hain Thoda ki Jaruraat hain. 1 of the best shows of Anand Rai Anand. Who can forget those comedies like Shrimaan Shrimati and few other Adhikari bro shows. Amazing nostalgia.

      1. No, we don’t really know these show. You see when we were little, our old lady didn’t like us watching TV shows. So we watched when she wasn’t there. We used to watch Astitva when she was taking her afternoon nap and when Friends was on, we had to wait until parents go to sleep to be able to watch it. Sometimes, we would watch these shows without the volume on! Oh and there was Kareena Kareena as well. Quite a funny show.

    2. Indian tv is a cesspool of mediocrity now. In fact before the controversy happened my family used to watch almost all the Pakistani serials on Zindagi tv. Pak is leagues ahead of india when it comes to storytelling. They made an adaptation of the god of small things and it was so good!!

    3. so all 30+ ppl are here? Cheers!!! All 90’s serials rocked 🙂 and then Ekta Kapoor happened!!! 🙁

      1. The only ekta serial i liked was pavitra rishta.. It actually showed the lead character at home in a gown with minimal makeup!! I was shocked.

    4. OMG…i just came to say ‘i loved Astitiva’ Dr Simran was wayyyyy awesome! N how many did see ‘Koshish Ek Aasha’ n ‘Hasratein’.. two other great serials! Even ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ n ‘Hip Hip hurray’ were superb teenage stuff! Those were the golden TV days!

      1. All of these are Zee serials. Their creative team was great work back then! Now…

      2. Hip Hip Hurray was such a good show! Cool without trying to be cool. And it had a character named Samantha too!

    5. I have stopped watching TV since a year ago and have no interest in this one as well…. TV is way backward in it’s story and concept.. It’s not relevant to a working woman like me… Ekta kapoor can keep targeting house wives with ever stretching stories and very predictable formulas… I had liked kkkg mainly for it’s songs and the idea that ab, SRK and hrithik will be present in a single frame… The story itself was wafer thin.. Donno how they are going to stretch this into a 5yr TV soap… All the best to Ekta…. I will take a pass..

    6. No Admin, I didn’t know tv writers are paid more than movie writers. But good for them at least they get their real dues unlikes movie writers where their story gets stolen forget about dues.

    7. When K3G came out nearly 17 years ago, I was quite young and I loved it. I remember dressing like Poo in hot pink and her IDGAF attitude was the rage at that time. Flash forward 15 years later, on a lazy afternoon, I decided to watch the movie for nostalgia reasons and I was appalled. I don’t know where to begin. This movie, like Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, wasn’t one that aged well. Whether it was the sanctimonious attitude of the principal characters, absolute submission by Jaya towards AB by forsaking her own son, excessive desh-bhakti (WTF is up with that National Anthem scene in BRITAIN) or the overt racism exhibited by Kajol towards her neighbours (If the white neighbour mocked Kajol the same way for her Indianness, people would be in arms).. As it remains, the only parts of K3G that I enjoyed was the SRK-Kajol track, HR’s perseverance in getting the family together and Poo/Kareena remembering her roots at the right time.

If Ekta does come out with a TV series based on K3G based on modern sensibilities, I would watch it. For the nostalgia, for Chandni Chowk, for the love story split apart economic divides, for the son striving to get his family back together and of course, for Poo.

Btw, admin, fellow Astitva fan here.

      1. K3g as a movie always sucked. Kkhh first half was good. When kajol transformed into the, good Indian girl it went bad. Although i liked salmans restrained performance in the movie.

      2. Did you guys know Dr Simran was in Shaandar? She played Alia Bhatt’s stepmother, the wife of Pankaj Kapur’s character in the film. Quite surprised to find her in that film without any prior promo or annoucement. She stays in London these days, so maybe that’s why they hired her. She is very beautiful, like the Madhuri Dixit of TV. Very poised and elegant.

        1. Yes admin shes, very pretty and suited the iconic role in astitva. She brought dignity to the character. I remember everybody used to watch the show when i was in school!
