Heavy rainfall has badly affected several areas around the world, including places in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. The latest area to be badly affected is Texas in the United States after it was hit by Hurricane Harvey. A lot of areas went underwater and there are pictures to prove it. Scary pictures show not just the flood, but also strong waves on the highway; it looks like the ocean.
Donate to charities to help flood victims everywhere.
This time, with social media, we are getting more shocking pictures of the situation. Pictures and videos of elderly citizens still stuck in their wheelchairs with the flood catching up on them and animals in shelters also in the same situation. A lot of residents with pets refused to leave their homes until their pets were rescued or until they could bring their pets with them.
If you want to do your part, The American Red Cross is accepting donations on its website. You can also text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10.
The flood happened so fast that rescue operations are still underway. People are making good use of their boats to go from houses to houses to rescue people.
If you prefer to donate your time, you can find out how to become a volunteer with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, one of the world’s oldest humanitarian organisations, here.
Those mostly affected and unable to get away fast are the senior citizens and animals. The disastrous effect of Hurricane Harvey has left millions of people homeless.
After seeing the damage of Hurricane Harvey, Hollywood celebrities have come together to donate and urge others to donate as well.
Now, we all know that these celebrities have lots of money that they waste on things they probably don’t need. This is the time when they can show to the people and their fans that they truly care and are good human beings.

Sandra Bullock is one such actress, who has always stepped up to help victims whenever disaster stuck. She’s a huge supporter of Red Cross and unlike some celebrities, who won’t use their own money (this is you, David Beckham), she has always donated huge sums of money to the famous charity organisation.
She stepped up the game by donating $1 million. We are saying “stepped up” because other higher earning male celebrities chose to donate way lesser than her, as in less than half of the amount that she donated. And this is Sandra Bullock, not someone who owns a gazillion houses or fancy cars, she hasn’t even been seen in a film since 2015.
Baker-Ripley will be rebuilding & helping those in need, as they have for over 100 years.

Sandra has always been generous every time a tragedy struck the U.S and other countries. She donated $1 million after the September 11 attacks, $1 million after the tsunami in Indonesia, $1 million to aid in the Haiti earthquake relief effort and $1 million to help victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The only message Sandra sent was, “I’m just grateful I can do it. We all have to do our part.” This is what a true Hollywood hero is!

Anyways, what happened to the other actors who claim that they are the highest paid and all that? The ones, who love to show off their fancy cars, jets, boats, private jets, speedboats and houses? Or better yet, where are the ones who like show how strong they are with their huge muscles? (here’s looking at you, The Rock)
What about the big orange man? He brought his wife, who wore stiletto, to check out the area. WTH! He mentioned that this is the most expensive damage that a hurricane caused to America.
There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water. – Sandra Bullock
It’s nice that social media has highlighted the effects of disasters in every place. In a way, celebs can’t avoid not doing something for these people. Look at Beyonce, she had to stop her obsession of posting her pictures to highlight this situation after a lot of commenters criticised her silence about what happened to her hometown, Houston. Beyonce and her husband are both so-called billionaires.
Non-celebs citizens from other places have stepped in to help with their boats. More volunteers are needed because there are still people stuck underwater in their homes.
If you are interested to check out how much celebrities donated, here’s the list:
Jensen Ackles – $50,000
Kevin Hart – $50,000
Chris Young – $100,000
The Kardashians – $500,000
DJ Khaled – $25,000
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – $25,000
Chris Brown – $100,000
Nicki Minaj – $25,000
Ellen Degeneres – $25,000 to Red Cross
Ellen Degeneres – $25,000 to the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

Jamie Foxx – $25,000
Jack Antonoff – $10,000 to an LGBT center in Houston
Ruby Rose – $10,000 to an LGBT center in Houston
Sean “Diddy” Combs – $25,000
Jennifer Lopez – $25,000
There have been other celebrities, such as Cher and Oprah, who tweeted that they are donating and have not disclosed the amount, which is still good as long as they are doing something. Beyonce also was reported to have donated a substantial amount of money through her BeyGood organisation.
There’s a reason why these people are lucky enough to make so much money. It’s to be able to extend a helping hand to those in need. Just like Sandra Bullock puts it, “I’m just grateful I can do it. We all have to do our part.”
