When Karan Johar was busy promoting his biography ‘An Unsuitable Boy’, he was asked about whether he’s going to be or wants to become a father many times. He said yes every time, probably because he knew his kids will be here soon. It was already rumoured last week that KJo fathered twins and now he made it official with a post on Twitter. We were watching his Rajeev Masand interview last week, where he shows Rajeev his Dharma Productions office.
Rajeev asked him since he doesn’t have any kids, who will inherit Dharma when he dies. KJo played it coy and said that he gets worried all the time and all that crap. But now that he has announced the birth of his twins, we just have to wait and see how involved he will remain in Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt’s career.
Now that he has his own kids to focus on, it will probably leave him little time to do the other things, like making useless Koffee with Karan episodes. Hopefully, he will be a great role model for his kids and not continue to act like this pervert, who’s only interested in the love life of adults twice younger than him on national television. Here’s to congratulating Karan Johar and his mother, Hiroo Johar.
Speaking of his mother, Karan once said in an interview that his mother has accepted the fact that he will never get married and that she will never have a daughter-in-law. That was maybe 4 years back. It seemed that only then his mother accepted that fact about her son. And now, years later, she finally gets her wish for grandchildren. So, lots of congratulations and here’s KJo’s official statement about his kids.

You know what’s sad? The surrogates barely get any money. The middleman/doctor gets most of it. First these women spend months getting impregnated. Then 9 months away from families during gestation. And it takes a toll on their health now and in the future. Diseases such as gestational diabetes can occur. Abortion and still birth can also happen. These women themselves can die. Sometimes in IVF all eggs can get fertilized. Then it’s a nightmare for both the babies and the mother. Then they go through the actual pain of childbirth. And finally they have to live with the fact that they will never see these children again.
And barely anyone congratulating the likes of Tushar and Karan will think of them. Like they are use and throw. After all they were paid!
In our country, only the rich, gay or straight, have rights. The poor have options driven by their poverty. To live, die or sell their bodies.
I’d like to ask all those asking who think commercial surrogacy (as opposed to altruistic surrogacy) is a boon for gays and single people. Would you put your actions where your words are and serve as a surrogate for a gay or single person? If not then what right do we have to ask poor people to do it for us?
Sorry for the rant but just thinking about what we put these women through makes me so sad. I don’t have anything against gay rights, but what about not exploiting poor women?
