Bollywood Blind Item – January 2019 – 6

UPDATE: Blind Item confirmed as media releases news regarding this BI. See Below…

Many of you will be shocked with the blind item below. It seems that in one day, there are two blind items about the same man and the situation that he got himself in. We are going with two blind items because the other one also seems to be about him. So, as the blind item below mentions, this director is really one of the most “beloved” filmmakers in the country. His films so far have worked and his last film last year was also a big surprising hit, which made turned around the luck of Raymond.

Now, looking back if these allegations are true, it’s no wonder he directed that film! Speaking of which, was he being bribed when he decided to do that film? Think about it. It’s so out of his usual film genres and even he himself admitted later on that he didn’t want the film to be like this. It was almost as if someone was forcing his hand to make this film.

So the BI below mentions how he has harassed a lady on his team and that the lady has reported the matter to the producer. Thankfully, the BI gives out a very important clue which made it quite easy to guess who it is referring to.

Let’s see if this will come out or they will bury it like they are doing with all the bigwigs. He is quite an important filmmaker to this producer, so it will be interesting to see how this is going to work. The producer’s wife is a famous journalist, but you know we have noticed how she kept quiet when the #MeToo movement was going on full force. All that she did was ask her guests about the movement in her interviews later on when the movement cooled down a bit.

It is not that surprising, though, regarding this director. If someone thinks that it is extremely funny to joke about being raped in films then there is something wrong with this person mentally. Or let’s take the fake biopic he made last year, he used that storyline about how the actor slept with more than 300 women or how he conned women into sleeping with him by bringing them to his fake mother’s burial place or something. The director was saying all this like if it was the funniest thing he has heard. Maybe to the creepy men in Bollywood or everywhere else, that’s funny but to normal sane people, it’s not! Like a teacher once said in school, “It’s these quiet boys that you have to be careful about.”

Check out the blind item below from Mumbai Mirror. Notice how many websites and papers are bringing up the news that this BI has given as clue. They all know and this is the way they are outing him. So that, you know, people would ask question why that happened.

    Bollywood Blind Item – January 2019 – 6

HERE’S a #MeToo update. It seems one of our beloved filmmakers will be called out soon. The director, who had a major movie out last year, has been accused of sexual harassment by one of his juniors. The lady in question has sent emails to the film’s producer, who is yet to deal with the situation officially. Meanwhile, the producer has removed the accused director’s name from new posters of his next film (the director was credited as co-producer in the film’s original posters). Will the facts come to light and rock the industry, or will the heavyweights ensure they get buried? Let’s wait and watch.

    Director: Rajkumar Hirani

    Producer: Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Film: Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

    Bollywood Blind Item – January 2019 – 6

Director Rajkumar Hirani has been accused of sexual assault by a co-worker at his production house who has alleged that the acclaimed filmmaker abused her over a period of six months, between March and September 2018, while filming his last movie Sanju, HuffPost reported on Sunday. The allegations have been categorically denied by the filmmaker in a statement issued by his lawyer.

According to the report, the woman wrote an email to Sanju producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, his wife and film critic, Anupama Chopra and Abhijat Joshi )screenwriter of Sanju alleging that Rajkumar Hirani had assaulted her during the post-production of the film, which released last year. “I remember forming these words on my lips – “Sir. This is wrong… Because of this power structure. You being the absolute power and me being a mere assistant, a nobody – I will never be able to express myself to you. My mind, body and heart were grossly violated that night and for the next 6 months,” the email read.

In an interview to HuffPost, the woman said that she had “no other choice but to be polite to him” because her job was at stake. “I had no choice but to be polite to him. I was worried that if I left midway, it would be impossible to find another job in this industry if he were to speak badly about my work,” the woman said. “Because if Hirani said I wasn’t good, everybody would listen. My future would be in jeopardy,” she added.

Denying the allegations in a statement, Rajkumar Hirani said that he was “shocked” when the allegations were brought to his notice about two months ago and without any delay he wanted to take the matter to a committe or a legal body. “I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or any legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation,” the filmmaker said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Mr Hirani’s lawyer also told HuffPost that the allegations were “false and completely unjustified”. “At the outset, our client states that the allegations made against him are false, mischievous, scandalous, motivated and defamatory,” the statement read.

Rajkumar Hirani, who has refused to comment on the allegations, however, shared printouts of the text messages shared between him and the complainant over the period of six months. “These communications establish that the allegations made against our client to you, that have given rise to your queries, are false and completely unjustified,” Anand Desai added in response to the allegations against the filmmaker.

After the allegations against Rajkumar Hirani came to fore, his name has been dropped from the posters of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga,HuffPost reported. Rajkummar Hirani was the co-producer of the film, starring Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla.

The film industry saw its long overdue #MeToo moment after Tanushree Dutta revived her decade-old charge of sexual harassment against Nana Patekar last year. On Twitter, several prominent men from the media and other fields have also been outed as alleged predators.

    1. My take on me too movement. It should be handled by the rules and policies of the work place! Any place of business’s have code of behavior! In USA and other western countries, specifically in top organization’s they give all staff members ,a big fat binder ! This will list ,rules and policies for harresments! There different levels of harresments, from off color joke too….stalking …to unwanted advances …to rape! Thus, each inappropriate behavior comes with the actions that it’s merits! There are also, written rules of how to report harresments! BW,should follow the same rules and policies of other big business’s ! Also, due process,is also important! If none on these options works, then outing in the media ,should be the last resort! Because , this will affect both,in a very negative way,the accusers will have problems in getting jobs, and the accused will also ,loose jobs! Me too movement, in the west is work in progress! Just outing, name and shame, is only a short term solution!,

    2. @admin pin this as the first post on the site or make a seperate post on this.

So Hirani finally outed.. Now somebody is going to make a biopic on him whitewashing his crimes..

    3. In principle I totally agree: we have to stop blaming women close to the offenders. However in case of Anu it is double standards of the highest order: before Tanushree Dutta opened the can of worms Anu would go around asking about metoo in every single interview – paying Lip service. The minute it broke out in Bolly isko saamp soongh gaya Lol

    4. Anupama Chopra is a dishonest film journalist. Closely interconnected as she is with Bollywood’s families, she is unable to critique the inadequacies of Bollywood progeny. Jahnvi Kapoor was unbearable in Dhadak. She gets off easy. Sara is declared a hit though the film flopped. She parties with the parents so how can she come down on nepotism? Or sexual harassment?

    5. In top filmmakers i believe on sanjay bhansali is away from me too.. Shocking to hear about hirani though.

      1. Sanjay Leela bhansali had two cases, one krk wrote something about Ranbir Kapoor and him.which might be untrue, and Imran Abbas in 2008.apparently he casting couched him for a role in heera mandi which never got made, and again for ram Leela which eventually he gave to ranveer.

      2. SLAB is gay and if he has any me too incident, it will be with men….and I feel male victims would be more reluctant to admit about sexual exploitation at his hands ( cuz of our misplaced sense of masculinity)….

    6. There was another blind too about Hirani being intimate with Sanju’s wife in his absence when he was in prison.

    7. Defamation, I say with complete arrogance! Has anyone who has written these blinds even worked for an hour on a Bollywood film??!!! Anyone beyond of town to Bandra (west) will take even 10 Rs to make these allegations!!! Crack that first!!!

      1. I know what you’re saying but i disagree. Raju’s alleged antics if true, are on him. It is not Anupama or even Raju’s wife’s responsibility. If her husband’s production company continues to associate itself with him, then we have a problem. Im sure Vidhu will do the right thing…although an investigation is essential

    8. @admin
Do u think this is true? Hirani hails from a conservative and grounded family. His wife is a pilot for Air India. your opinion on this?

      1. Upbringing and who you are married to don’t determine a person’s character.

I know of no true conservative or liberal who think jokes about rape are funny. I also don’t think the blasé attitude to cheating in Munnabhai was okay. Nor was the whitewashing of a misogynist/terrorist/mafia-man in Sanju. Raju has shown his value system in his movies. That determines his character.

      2. Hi Harsha, There is no connection in being conservative or his wife being a pilot….how people behave when they think no one is looking, is the real test of their character. It’s very easy to be on our good behaviour when in public. There are a lot of ‘Dhongis’ amongst us, moving around wearing masks. Notice around, some of them might be from our own families too……

      3. None of these things stop the sex predator. It’s about exercising power and having the opportunity. And poor impulse control? No, why control your desires when you have the power to make or mar a career?

    9. In bollywood no one can live without sexual harassment I suppose. Shocking to read so many names. U hope someone comes forward and put a case against him. Even if hirani is golden boy for his producer, he better be sacked.

The good thing about anupama chopra is, she is a good listener, gives ample time for her guests to talk, is gentler with her questions and has calm demeanor. But she should have supported the me too movement more aggressively. I think her husband and some people working for her husband’s productions are offenders, so she took a back and stopped reviewing movies for a while
